đź“‹ Description

  • • As ReflectionAI Inc. embarks on its ambitious mission to build and democratize open superintelligence, we are seeking a pioneering Associate General Counsel, Product & Regulatory to establish and scale the critical legal and compliance infrastructure that underpins our groundbreaking AI model development and releases.
  • • This is a unique opportunity to be the first dedicated product and regulatory attorney within a rapidly growing, talent-dense team comprised of leading AI researchers and company builders from prestigious institutions like DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, and Anthropic.
  • • You will play an instrumental role in shaping the legal and ethical landscape of open-weight AI, ensuring our innovations are not only cutting-edge but also developed, released, and commercialized with the highest standards of compliance and public trust.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive legal and regulatory counsel across the entire AI model lifecycle. This involves deep collaboration with our Product, Research, Engineering, Trust & Safety, and Operations teams to embed "legal by design" and "safety by design" principles from the earliest stages of development.
  • • A key focus will be advising on the responsible use of diverse data sources, including third-party, synthetic, and open-source data. You will ensure strict adherence to data licensing agreements, provenance tracking, and attribution requirements, safeguarding intellectual property and ethical data handling.
  • • You will be instrumental in designing and implementing robust policies for the publication of models and datasets under open-weights licenses. This includes developing comprehensive governance documentation and establishing frameworks for responsible AI releases, ensuring clarity and compliance for our community and partners.
  • • Furthermore, you will develop and maintain essential internal policies, guardrails, and playbooks. These critical documents will address crucial areas such as acceptable use of our AI models, methodologies for red teaming and adversarial testing, misuse monitoring strategies, and protocols for model deprecation, ensuring a secure and ethical ecosystem.
  • • You will lead cross-functional risk governance initiatives, including the establishment and operation of release committees, safety review processes, and clear escalation paths for potential issues, fostering a culture of proactive risk management.
  • • Advising on complex model licensing regimes, the nuances of open-source frameworks, and the precise definition of downstream usage rights will be a core part of your role, providing clarity and enabling innovation for our users.
  • • A significant aspect of your work will involve continuous monitoring and interpretation of the rapidly evolving landscape of AI, data privacy, and export-control regulations. You will provide strategic advice on global compliance strategies for both model development and commercialization efforts.
  • • You will oversee and actively contribute to the evolution of ReflectionAI's global privacy program. This includes ensuring compliance with major regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and DPAs, managing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and championing privacy-by-design principles in close coordination with our Information Security and Trust teams.
  • • You will be responsible for tracking and briefing leadership on emerging trends in AI regulation, safety, and ethics. This includes staying ahead of proposed legislation, industry standards, and evolving codes of conduct, providing timely and actionable insights.
  • • You will also advise on regulatory engagement strategies and external advocacy efforts. This encompasses responding to governmental inquiries, actively participating in public consultations, and liaising with regulatory agencies as they develop new rules for artificial intelligence.
  • • By joining ReflectionAI, you are not just taking a job; you are becoming a foundational member of a team dedicated to building the future of open AI. You will have the unparalleled opportunity to shape our company's trajectory and contribute to defining the very frontier of open foundational models.
  • • We are committed to fostering an environment where you can achieve the most impactful work of your career, knowing that you and your loved ones are fully supported.
