- • As an Associate Software Engineer on the AI for Care (AI4C) squad at Back Market, you will play a key role in transforming customer support through AI-driven automation, helping scale reliable, production-grade AI solutions that reduce environmental impact by extending the life of refurbished tech.
- • You will design, build, and maintain backend services and tooling that power LLM-powered features in production — including APIs, MCP servers, connectors, and integrations — ensuring they are scalable, observable, and reliable across global markets and languages.
- • You will actively experiment with emerging AI tools, models, and patterns, contributing to the evaluation and adoption of innovations that improve customer issue resolution, troubleshooting AI agents, and answer suggestions for human agents.
- • You will take end-to-end ownership of features from design through LLM integration to production, writing clean, well-organized code in Python and related technologies while participating in code reviews and technical discussions with senior engineers.
- • You will collaborate closely with a growing, international team of AI-focused engineers across the US, FR, ES, and JP, learning from and contributing to a community dedicated to advancing applied AI in real-world customer care systems.
- • You will strengthen your foundation in mathematics, statistics, probability, and optimization — applying these fundamentals to real ML and AI engineering challenges, not just theory.
- • You will gain hands-on experience with modern AI infrastructure on GCP, including Kubernetes (GKE), BigQuery, Redis, Kafka, and Datadog, while working with LLMs from OpenAI and other providers in a fast-moving, production-focused environment.
- • You will grow into a trusted engineer who balances experimentation with rigor, learning how to evaluate what’s worth adopting in AI — turning prototypes into reliable, customer-impacting systems.
🎯 Requirements
- • 1–2 years of software engineering experience, including internships, with strong fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, probability, and optimization.
- • Proficiency in Python and experience with backend frameworks such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or Celery; familiarity with Golang or Django is a plus.
- • Hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts and tools, including LLMs, prompt engineering, evaluation, and observability; exposure to GCP, BigQuery, Redis, Kafka, or Kubernetes is preferred.
