đź“‹ Description
- • As a Back-End/Infra Engineer on the Giger team at Deel, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the internal sandbox platform that enables rapid, safe, and scalable development across the organization—directly accelerating product innovation and engineering velocity for a global workforce of 7,000+.
- • You will design, build, and maintain the control plane that powers hundreds of dynamic developer sandboxes, ensuring they are production-like, isolated, and reliable environments where teams can test, experiment, and deploy with confidence.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing backend tooling and services to automate sandbox creation, orchestration, and lifecycle management; productizing infrastructure as a platform (including databases, caches, object storage, and queueing systems); and scaling and tuning Kubernetes clusters to handle volatile, bursty workloads using Karpenter, VPA, KEDA, and advanced scheduling strategies.
- • You will own networking setup to mirror production environments while enhancing developer experience at scale—managing traffic routing, ingress controllers, service mesh integration, and asset delivery for hundreds of sandboxes.
- • You will implement and evolve observability within sandboxes, partner with the Sandboxes SRE team to ensure high uptime and reliability, and collaborate with Deel engineering to improve DevEx by productizing everyday needs into self-service platform capabilities.
- • You will constantly track and optimize costs at massive K8s scale, where even small inefficiencies in compute, storage, or data transfer have significant impact, applying right-sizing, bin-packing, and resource tuning techniques.
- • You will work with cutting-edge tools including Helm, GitOps, external secrets management (Vault, External Secrets), service mesh, and cloud-native operators, extending Kubernetes through custom controllers and operators where needed.
- • You will collaborate in a truly cross-functional environment, participating in product planning from discovery to deployment, and contributing to robust feature development, API design, and continuous improvement of Deel’s industry-leading HR and payroll platform.
- • You will join a globally distributed, high-impact team at one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, where your work directly supports the payment of $11.2B+ to workers across 100+ currencies and enables compliant, scalable global hiring.
- • You will have the opportunity to grow as a platform engineering leader, gaining deep expertise in large-scale Kubernetes operations, internal developer platforms, and cloud infrastructure—skills that are in high demand across the tech industry.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering
- • Strong backend engineering skills with expertise in API design, Postgres, and Kafka/Nats
- • Advanced experience with Kubernetes, including building tools, controllers, or operators that extend its capabilities, and hands-on experience managing large clusters (1000+ nodes, 30k+ pods)
- • Proficiency with AWS/GCP/Azure, Helm charts, GitOps, and standard Kubernetes tooling (ingress, secrets management, autoscaling, storage provisioning)
- • Background in Node.js, Go, or Python
- • Excellent system design, problem-solving, and cross-team communication abilities
🏖️ Benefits
- • Stock grant opportunities based on role, employment status, and location
- • Flexibility of remote work with optional WeWork access
- • Additional perks and benefits tailored to employment status and country
- • Access to scalable total rewards programs reflecting Deel’s commitment to inclusivity and global equity
