- • Architect and own the backbone of a global EdTech platform that turns chart-topping songs into personalized English lessons for tens of thousands of daily users. You will design, build, and evolve the Node.js services that generate exercises on-the-fly, track every learner’s progress, and deliver content in milliseconds across mobile and web.
- • Lead the design of scalable RESTful APIs that power our React web app, React-Native mobile clients, and future voice interfaces. Your endpoints will handle everything from user authentication and subscription management to real-time exercise scoring and adaptive difficulty adjustment.
- • Model and maintain MongoDB collections that store millions of lyrics, translations, audio snippets, and user interactions. You will craft efficient aggregations, compound indexes, and schema migrations that keep read/write latency under 50 ms—even when traffic spikes during new song releases.
- • Build resilient content-processing pipelines that ingest raw lyrics, run AI-powered translation and phonetic transcription, synchronize line-level timestamps with audio, and flag inappropriate content for moderation—processing hundreds of tracks per hour without downtime.
- • Implement a flexible content-management workflow that lets linguists, music curators, and QA reviewers collaborate asynchronously. Your state machines and role-based permissions will ensure every lyric line, translation, and exercise is reviewed, approved, and published seamlessly.
- • Optimize backend performance at scale: profile Node.js event loops, shard MongoDB collections, cache hot data in Redis, and horizontally scale microservices on Kubernetes. You’ll cut P95 latency by 30 % and reduce AWS spend through smart autoscaling and spot-instance usage.
- • Integrate third-party services—Spotify & Apple Music APIs for track metadata, Stripe for subscription billing, OpenAI & Google Cloud for translation and speech-to-text—while abstracting provider-specific quirks behind clean internal SDKs.
- • Collaborate daily with frontend, mobile, and product teams in short, focused sprints. You’ll demo features every Friday, gather feedback from learners within 24 hours, and iterate before the next release cycle.
- • Champion engineering excellence: write unit and integration tests that keep coverage above 80 %, enforce linting and type-checking with ESLint & TypeScript, and maintain clear OpenAPI documentation so any engineer can onboard in under an hour.
- • Contribute to the technical roadmap, propose new architectures (GraphQL federation, event sourcing, CQRS), and mentor junior developers through pair programming and code reviews.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of backend development with Node.js in production environments
- • Deep, hands-on experience with MongoDB including schema design, aggregation pipelines, and performance tuning
- • Proven track record of designing and documenting RESTful APIs consumed by mobile and web clients
- • Strong grasp of authentication & authorization patterns (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC)
- • Experience with message queues and background job processing (Bull, RabbitMQ, or SQS)
- • Nice-to-have: exposure to AI/ML integrations (translation, speech, or NLP models), subscription billing systems, or multi-language products
