We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team in Serbia and play a crucial role in designing, coding, and supporting the services, data pipelines, and data stores that power our innovative advertising applications. This role is pivotal in solving complex problems, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software in an engineer-led, continuous deployment environment.
• • As a Software Engineer at Billups, you will be instrumental in developing sophisticated software solutions that empower our customers to optimize their business processes. You will embrace full ownership of functionality, guiding it from initial development through to successful deployment. A strong commitment to code quality is essential; you will be responsible for writing comprehensive tests, learning from every iteration, and continuously contributing to the improvement of our systems and your own technical expertise. Your day-to-day will involve actively participating in or leading team meetings, sharing your knowledge by mentoring junior staff, engaging in pair-programming sessions to foster collaborative development, and dedicating time to self-directed learning to stay at the forefront of technological advancements. You will work closely with product owners, analysts, designers, and fellow developers to accurately estimate the scope and effort required for new projects and features.
• • Your technical contributions will focus on developing robust solutions using the appropriate programming languages and frameworks, designing application architectures, and building efficient REST APIs that adhere to best practices. A deep understanding of data structures and algorithms, including their traversal and optimization, will be critical. You will consistently strive to write clean, well-tested, and expressive code that is both maintainable and scalable. Collaboration is key; you will work hand-in-hand with product and design stakeholders to translate business needs into technical realities. Maintaining high standards of quality, you will write and maintain unit tests, monitor code coverage reports, and aim for continuous releases with a minimal bug rate of less than 5%. You will collaborate with various business teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions, including new services and features for our modern applications, drawing upon your experience with legacy systems to inform future development.
• • You will be a driving force in achieving results through effective collaboration, rapid prototyping, and test-driven continuous integration (CI) practices. This involves producing high-quality code and demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning to enhance the overall system. The ideal candidate will possess a proven and strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, coupled with 3 or more years of in-depth experience with C# and the .Net Core framework, including its various tools, algorithms, and features. Specific expertise in Dependency Injection (DI), LINQ, Asynchronous and Concurrency patterns, REST APIs/Swagger, and Architecture & Design patterns is highly valued. Experience with database development, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL, is essential. Furthermore, a solid background in team development, source control using Git, and best practices for continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) is required. While not mandatory, experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure will be considered a significant advantage.
