• • As a Senior Backend Engineer at Sunrise Robotics, you will play a pivotal role in constructing the robust, scalable, and reliable systems that form the backbone of our robotics platform. Your responsibilities will encompass the design and implementation of sophisticated backend services responsible for managing robot communication, orchestrating complex data pipelines, ensuring seamless system orchestration, and developing essential operational tooling.
• • This role is critical because the success of our robotics deployments hinges on backend systems that are not only predictable and observable but also exceptionally resilient in demanding real-world operational environments. In this context, system reliability is as paramount as the timely delivery of new features.
• • You will assume comprehensive ownership of the backend architecture and its implementation, primarily utilizing Python for services, APIs, and data systems. A key focus will be on designing these systems with inherent scalability, robust fault tolerance, and ease of maintainability from the outset.
• • The scope of your work will involve meticulous planning and the decomposition of intricate projects into manageable, actionable steps. You will be responsible for authoring clear and concise technical documentation, and you will collaborate closely with our cross-functional team to deliver well-structured systems that seamlessly integrate with our core robotics infrastructure, user-facing web applications, and cloud services hosted on AWS.
• • Key responsibilities include designing and building sophisticated backend services using Python, which will be instrumental in powering core robotics operations, managing intricate data flows, and supporting essential internal tools. You will architect and implement highly scalable and reliable APIs and backend systems that serve as the communication layer for both our web applications and the underlying robotics infrastructure.
• • Furthermore, you will design and refine database models and data pipelines, leveraging PostgreSQL to efficiently support critical operational and product workflows. A significant part of your role will involve planning and meticulously breaking down complex backend projects into clear implementation phases, culminating in well-structured and reviewable pull requests.
• • You will take full ownership of backend features and services throughout their entire lifecycle, from initial architectural conceptualization and decision-making through to successful production deployment and ongoing maintenance. This includes integrating backend systems with our React-based web applications and, where necessary, with Node.js services, ensuring a cohesive and functional platform.
• • A strong emphasis will be placed on building and maintaining systems that prioritize exceptional reliability, comprehensive observability, and robust fault tolerance, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
• • You will work closely with our AWS and DevOps infrastructure teams to effectively deploy, operate, and scale our backend services, contributing to a robust and efficient cloud environment.
• • A crucial aspect of the role involves proactively investigating and troubleshooting complex production issues that may arise across various services, data systems, and infrastructure components, ensuring swift resolution and system stability.
