Backend Engineer

📋 Description

• • Own the heart of Light’s Smart Financial Platform (SFP) – the backend services that power accounting, reporting, and financial flows for modern, global companies. You will design, build, and scale the APIs, data models, and infrastructure that let multinational teams replace their clunky ERPs with software they actually love.
• • Ship production-grade Kotlin micro-services and monolith components that handle millions of ledger entries, invoices, and payments with sub-second latency. Every line of code you write directly impacts how quickly customers can close their books, forecast cash, and stay compliant across jurisdictions.
• • Collaborate daily with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to translate complex finance requirements into elegant, RESTful APIs. You’ll whiteboard data flows for multi-currency consolidation, debate idempotency strategies for payment webhooks, and pair-program on resilient retry logic.
• • Optimize our Postgres schemas and queries to keep dashboards snappy even when a customer imports five years of historical data. You’ll add composite indexes, partition tables, and write custom migration scripts with zero downtime.
• • Build fault-tolerant integrations with banks, payment rails, and tax APIs. You’ll wrap third-party quirks behind clean interfaces, implement circuit breakers, and monitor SLAs so our customers never miss a payment deadline.
• • Champion code quality through rigorous reviews, 90 %+ unit-test coverage, and automated CI/CD pipelines. You’ll set the bar for logging, tracing, and alerting so the on-call rotation is boring (in a good way).
• • Contribute to our AWS infrastructure as code (Terraform/CDK). You’ll spin up new environments in minutes, tune autoscaling policies, and keep security groups locked down without slowing delivery.
• • Experiment with AI-driven features—think predictive cash-flow models or anomaly detection on spend data—by integrating LLM endpoints and vector stores into our backend stack.
• • Mentor junior engineers and write internal runbooks that turn tribal knowledge into repeatable processes. Your documentation will be the difference between a 3 a.m. page and a peaceful night’s sleep.
• • Join a culture that ships weekly, measures everything, and celebrates learning. You’ll demo your work to the entire company on Fridays, see customers adopt it on Monday, and iterate again by Wednesday.
