Backend Engineer — Ingestion

📋 Description

• • As a Backend Engineer — Ingestion at PostHog, you will own the end-to-end ingestion pipeline that processes billions of events per month, ensuring reliable, high-throughput data flow from customer sources into PostHog’s platform for analytics, feature flags, CDP, and more. This role is critical to enabling PostHog’s mission of being the operating system for software builders, where data integrity and system performance directly impact customer trust and product velocity.
• • Day to day, you will design, build, and optimize distributed systems using Node.js and Rust to handle terabytes of data with low latency and high reliability; you’ll work with Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, S3, and Redis to process event streams, implement data validation and transformation logic, monitor system health, and ship frequent, confident improvements without breaking production—all while operating in a fully async, meeting-light environment that prioritizes deep work.
