📋 Description

• As a Backend Engineer - Java at LemFi (operated by RightCard Payments Limited), you will be the engine behind the company's global expansion, focusing on integrating high-value payout partners and launching new currency corridors to enable seamless, instant money transfers for users across 30+ countries.
• You will architect abstraction layers that normalize money movement across fragmented global banking systems, ensuring transactions to Nigeria, Brazil, the Philippines, and other destinations feel equally seamless and reliable.
• Day to day, you will design and ship scalable, secure, and cloud-native backend features using Java, with emphasis on simplicity, data consistency, and financial privacy.
• You will own the full lifecycle of your features—from technical design and documentation to gradual rollouts and on-call responsibilities under a 'you build it, you run it' model.
• You will ensure system reliability by implementing automated testing, maintaining clean code practices, and proactively monitoring SLAs and SLOs.
• You will drive cross-functional impact by collaborating with product, compliance, and operations teams to deliver regulated financial products that meet customer needs and regulatory standards.
• You will work within a mission-driven team of 400+ employees spanning 20+ countries, united by the goal of building a financial ecosystem that helps immigrants stay connected to home, build stability, and create wealth regardless of geography.
• The company processes over $1B in monthly transactions and has evolved from fast, affordable remittances into a full platform offering multi-currency accounts, payments, credit, and long-term financial growth tools.
• In this role, you will learn to navigate complex international banking integrations, deepen your expertise in distributed systems and financial domain design, and grow your impact as a trusted engineer in a high-stakes, socially meaningful fintech environment.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems in Java
• Strong command of PostgreSQL, including optimization and isolation levels
• Experience with Redis for caching and async workflows
• Proficiency with Docker, REST principles, and observability stacks
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar technologies
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
