📋 Description

• • As a Backend Engineer at Storyby, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining scalable backend systems that power entertainment experiences for over 10 million users worldwide, directly contributing to the growth of a Ukrainian tech builder with global ambitions.
• • Your day-to-day responsibilities include implementing and maintaining API endpoints for web and mobile using HTTP Cloud Functions, optimizing performance through profiling, caching, and proper indexing, ensuring code quality via unit and integration testing (Jest), logging, tracing, and alerts, conducting code reviews, and upholding engineering standards in a monorepo using Nx, esbuild, and CI, while also engaging in foundational infrastructure work with Terraform and participating in incident analysis.
• • You will join Skelar AS, a Ukrainian venture builder with a team of 1000+ professionals, backing multiple high-impact tech businesses across EdTech, marketplaces, and entertainment, including Storyby — a platform reaching millions through AlphaNovel, StorybyWriter, and DramaShorts, with recognition from TechCrunch, Wired, and top Ukrainian startup rankings.
• • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in backend architecture, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL optimization, cloud infrastructure (GCP/Firebase), and engineering best practices, while contributing to meaningful products used by millions and growing alongside a team that values ownership, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.
