📋 Description

• Own backend systems and infrastructure end-to-end, from design through deployment and scaling, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability for financial products serving millions of underserved Americans.
• Build and maintain performant, reliable APIs and services using Node.js (TypeScript) on AWS to power core financial access functionality.
• Design and implement scalable, resilient architectures on AWS, making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ship production code frequently while upholding strict quality standards and system reliability, even under intense delivery timelines.
• Help establish and enforce technical patterns, best practices, and coding standards across the engineering team.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate output and maximize impact, while actively rejecting low-quality AI-generated code and maintaining rigorous code quality.
• Collaborate directly with product engineers and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions and iterate quickly in production.
• Dig into operational data to diagnose performance bottlenecks, identify systemic issues, and drive improvements in system efficiency and uptime.
• Work in a high-intensity environment where roles evolve quickly, systems are still being built, and career growth is accelerated through ownership and execution.
• Operate with a systems-oriented mindset, deeply caring about the long-term implications of architectural decisions and taking full accountability for system outcomes.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years or equivalent depth of experience in professional software engineering with significant backend focus
• Experience building and scaling production systems with Node.js and AWS
• Proficient with TypeScript
• Track record of delivering reliable, performant systems at scale
• Strong systems-oriented mindset focused on performance, reliability, and scalability
• Comfortable with high-intensity work environments and willing to work more than 50 hours per week
