đź“‹ Description
- • Vana, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Backend Software Engineer L2 to join our dynamic team in Guatemala. This pivotal role is central to the design, development, and implementation of scalable, resilient, and sustainable backend software solutions that power our innovative fintech platforms. You will be an integral part of the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept and architectural design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance, directly contributing to the technical excellence, stability, and growth of our core systems.
- • As a Backend L2 Engineer, you will be entrusted with significant responsibility, requiring a proactive approach, sharp analytical thinking, and a strong sense of ownership. You will thrive in fast-paced, distributed, and agile environments, collaborating closely with multiple cross-functional teams within the organization to deliver exceptional results.
- • Your primary responsibilities will encompass the end-to-end development of backend solutions. This includes architecting, coding, and deploying robust, high-quality services using TypeScript, a language renowned for its type safety and developer productivity. You will be expected to execute defined projects with precision, identifying optimal solutions and consistently applying best practices in software engineering.
- • A key aspect of this role is taking ownership of technical deliverables, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project timelines. You will actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and championing the adoption of stringent quality standards across the engineering team. This collaborative approach ensures code maintainability, reduces technical debt, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
- • You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining powerful, scalable APIs, designed for seamless consumption by both internal services and external partners. This involves understanding API design principles, security considerations, and performance optimization techniques.
- • A significant focus will be placed on integrating and optimizing cloud services, with a strong preference for AWS. You will work extensively with serverless architectures, leveraging services like AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch to build cost-effective and highly available solutions. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK or SAM will be crucial for automating infrastructure provisioning and management.
- • Applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles will be essential for modeling complex business domains and translating them into well-structured, maintainable software solutions. This approach helps align software design with business objectives, leading to more adaptable and understandable systems.
- • You will contribute to the design and ongoing maintenance of distributed systems and event-driven architectures (EDA). This includes working with messaging queues (e.g., SNS, SQS) and event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, EventBridge) to build decoupled, asynchronous, and fault-tolerant systems.
- • Proficiency in designing and managing NoSQL databases, such as DynamoDB or MongoDB, will be required. You will focus on efficient data modeling and query optimization to ensure high performance and scalability.
- • A strong commitment to quality will be demonstrated through the implementation of comprehensive automated testing strategies, including unit and integration tests. This ensures the reliability and stability of the software throughout its lifecycle.
- • You will be an active participant in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's iterative development process and continuous learning.
- • This role also presents an opportunity to mentor new team members and junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical growth within the team. Your experience will be invaluable in guiding others and promoting continuous technical learning.
- • Finally, you will be encouraged to proactively propose technical improvements and actively participate in innovation initiatives aimed at optimizing code, enhancing system performance, and exploring new technologies.
🎯 Requirements

- • Over 3 years of professional experience in backend software development.
- • Proficiency in TypeScript and experience developing RESTful APIs.
- • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and serverless technologies (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch).
- • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks like AWS CDK or SAM.
- • Solid understanding and practical application of testing methodologies (unit, integration) and automation.
- • Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures (EDA) using services like SNS, SQS, Kafka, or EventBridge.
- • Knowledge of NoSQL databases and efficient data modeling techniques.
- • Practical experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles.
- • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban).
