• • About the Role: We are actively seeking a talented Backend Engineer (Mid-Level) who possesses a strong drive and thrives in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the robust backend systems that form the backbone of Tessera's advanced AI automation platform. This includes architecting and building scalable APIs, developing efficient data pipelines, and ensuring seamless integrations with complex enterprise systems. This position is deeply hands-on, making it an ideal opportunity for an individual who relishes building sophisticated distributed systems, enjoys solving challenging backend problems, and is eager to contribute significantly to architectural discussions within a collaborative and dynamic team.
• • Key Responsibilities - Core Development:
• • Design, develop, and meticulously maintain RESTful APIs and backend services, primarily utilizing Python, with a strong emphasis on frameworks like FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
• • Construct reliable and resilient microservices that are essential for supporting intricate data processing, sophisticated automation workflows, and seamless AI system integrations.
• • Implement and continuously optimize database schemas, queries, and caching strategies to ensure peak performance and exceptional scalability.
• • Play a key role in the development and enhancement of data pipelines and synchronization services, facilitating smooth data flow across various enterprise integrations.
• • Key Responsibilities - AI & Systems Integration:
• • Establish and maintain robust connections between backend services and critical AI model servers, vector databases, and complex automation workflows.
• • Engineer solutions that enable smooth and efficient data exchange between our advanced AI agents and leading enterprise systems, including but not limited to Salesforce, SAP, and Workday.
• • Key Responsibilities - Scalability & Reliability:
• • Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks within backend code and database operations, ensuring optimal system efficiency.
• • Implement advanced caching mechanisms, comprehensive monitoring solutions, and detailed logging to guarantee system reliability, high availability, and deep observability.
• • Collaborate closely with our DevOps team to facilitate the deployment and ongoing maintenance of our cloud-based services, primarily on AWS or GCP.
• • Key Responsibilities - Security & Quality:
• • Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth2, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
• • Adhere to and promote best practices in code quality, comprehensive testing methodologies, and thorough documentation.
• • Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to the continuous improvement of our backend architecture and development standards.
• • Key Responsibilities - Collaboration & Ownership:
• • Work in close partnership with frontend, AI, and product management teams to collaboratively deliver new features and enhance existing functionalities.
• • Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying areas for improvement and developing practical, scalable, and effective solutions.
• • Effectively balance the need for rapid development with the importance of long-term scalability and maintainability in a fast-moving startup environment.
