Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Join Novellia, a groundbreaking company revolutionizing healthcare data access and utilization. We are the first and only platform in the US enabling individuals to access nearly a decade of their health data in under 30 seconds, completely free of charge. Our mission is to consolidate all health records from various providers into a single, perpetually updated location, empowering patients and accelerating biopharma innovation.
- • As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and scaling the robust backend infrastructure that powers our unique patient-powered real-world data platform. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies to transform fragmented health journeys into comprehensive, patient-authorized longitudinal datasets.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed backend services and efficient data processing pipelines. This involves handling vast quantities of sensitive healthcare data with the utmost security and accuracy.
- • A key aspect of this role is the integration and optimization of advanced AI components, including Large Language Models (LLMs). You will contribute to building intelligent features and deriving actionable insights from complex health information, enhancing the value of our data for researchers and biopharma partners.
- • Collaboration is central to our success. You will work closely with frontend engineers to ensure seamless user experiences, data scientists to refine analytical capabilities, and AI specialists to embed sophisticated machine learning models into our platform.
- • You will own the entire lifecycle of feature development, from initial concept and technical specification through to deployment, rigorous testing, and ongoing maintenance. This end-to-end ownership ensures the quality and reliability of our services.
- • Implementing comprehensive observability for all services and data pipelines is critical. This includes setting up effective monitoring, logging, alerting, and autoscaling mechanisms to ensure system health, enable rapid diagnostics, and provide performance insights.
- • Upholding best practices in coding, testing, and deployment is paramount. You will contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, ensuring our codebase is maintainable, scalable, and robust.
- • You will partner with product owners and designers to deeply understand user needs and business requirements, translating these into well-defined technical specifications and executable development plans.
- • Staying abreast of the latest backend best practices, emerging AI tools, and advancements in healthcare interoperability standards (like FHIR) is essential. You will be encouraged to bring new ideas and technologies to the team.
- • Novellia is experiencing rapid growth, with a 5x year-over-year expansion, and our data is already being utilized in publications with leading scientific organizations and backed by top-tier investors. This is an opportunity to join a high-impact team at a pivotal stage of growth and shape the future of healthcare data.
- • You will contribute to building an engineering team from the ground up, influencing technical direction, team culture, and development processes. This is a unique chance to make a significant impact on the company's trajectory and the broader healthcare industry.
- • The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in building scalable distributed systems and a passion for leveraging technology to solve complex problems in the healthcare domain. You are driven by the opportunity to create products that have a tangible positive impact on millions of lives.
- • We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued. If you are excited about this role and believe you can contribute, even if your experience doesn't perfectly match every listed qualification, we strongly encourage you to apply.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- • 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a proven track record of building and scaling distributed systems.
- • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Node.js, or Java, and experience with designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and a solid understanding of system design principles, backend services, data processing, and analytics.
- • Demonstrated experience with backend observability practices, including monitoring, logging, alerting, and autoscaling, coupled with hands-on experience with relational databases.
- • A history of successfully delivering on high-impact organizational projects, ideally with at least 2 years of experience in a startup environment, showcasing strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
🏖️ Benefits
