- • As a Backend Software Engineer at Wayflyer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our core financial products by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services. You will leverage your expertise in Python and Django to build robust solutions that power our innovative financial technology platform, directly contributing to our mission of empowering businesses to reach their growth potential.
- • Your primary responsibility will involve architecting and implementing sophisticated RESTful APIs that serve as the backbone for both our customer-facing applications and essential internal tools. This includes ensuring these APIs are not only functional but also secure, efficient, and capable of handling significant transaction volumes.
- • You will be deeply involved in the design and implementation of complex data models and database schemas, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL. This role requires a meticulous approach to data integrity and performance, ensuring our financial services infrastructure is built on a solid and scalable foundation.
- • A core aspect of your work will be writing clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code. You will be expected to implement comprehensive unit and integration tests to guarantee the reliability and maintainability of your solutions, adhering to best practices in software development.
- • Collaboration is key at Wayflyer. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists, to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver new features and significant improvements to our platform.
- • A critical part of this role is the continuous optimization of application performance. You will be tasked with identifying bottlenecks, implementing performance enhancements, and ensuring the high availability and resilience of our services, especially during peak loads.
- • You will actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers and receiving it in turn. This process is vital for maintaining code quality, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- • Contributing to technical documentation is also a key responsibility. This includes creating and updating documentation for APIs, system architecture, and operational procedures to ensure clarity and facilitate knowledge transfer across the team.
- • You will be involved in monitoring and maintaining our production systems, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to ensure the reliability, security, and operational integrity of our financial services.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in the rapidly evolving fintech space. You will gain exposure to a wide range of financial products and services, contributing to solutions that have a tangible impact on the success of businesses worldwide.
- • You will be encouraged to bring your own ideas to the table, driving innovation and helping to shape our technical roadmap. We value engineers who are not afraid to challenge the status quo and propose creative solutions to complex problems.
- • The remote nature of this role across Europe means you'll be part of a globally distributed team, requiring excellent asynchronous communication skills and the ability to work effectively across different time zones.
- • You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in backend development and fintech, continuously learning and applying new knowledge to your work.
- • Your contributions will directly impact Wayflyer's ability to scale its operations, onboard new customers efficiently, and provide best-in-class financial solutions, reinforcing our position as a leader in the e-commerce financing industry.
- • You will be a key player in ensuring our platform remains secure and compliant with financial regulations, a critical aspect of operating in the fintech sector.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, where you can anticipate challenges and implement preventative measures, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruption.
- • You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and share your expertise, contributing to the overall growth and development of the engineering team.
- • Your work will involve integrating with various third-party services and financial institutions, requiring careful attention to detail and robust error handling.
- • You will be part of a dynamic environment where agility and adaptability are highly valued, enabling us to respond quickly to market changes and customer needs.
- • Ultimately, you will be a trusted member of the engineering team, responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable backend systems that are fundamental to Wayflyer's success and continued growth.
