📋 Description

• As a Backend Software Engineer at Wayflyer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our core financial products by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services. You will leverage your expertise in Python and Django to build robust solutions that power our innovative financial technology platform, directly contributing to our mission of empowering businesses to reach their growth potential.
• Your primary responsibility will involve architecting and implementing sophisticated RESTful APIs that serve as the backbone for both our customer-facing applications and essential internal tools. This includes ensuring these APIs are not only functional but also secure, efficient, and capable of handling significant transaction volumes.
• You will be deeply involved in the design and implementation of complex data models and database schemas, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL. This role requires a meticulous approach to data integrity and performance, ensuring our financial services infrastructure is built on a solid and scalable foundation.
• A core aspect of your work will be writing clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code. You will be expected to implement comprehensive unit and integration tests to guarantee the reliability and maintainability of your solutions, adhering to best practices in software development.
• Collaboration is key at Wayflyer. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists, to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver new features and significant improvements to our platform.
• A critical part of this role is the continuous optimization of application performance. You will be tasked with identifying bottlenecks, implementing performance enhancements, and ensuring the high availability and resilience of our services, especially during peak loads.

• Contributing to technical documentation is also a key responsibility. This includes creating and updating documentation for APIs, system architecture, and operational procedures to ensure clarity and facilitate knowledge transfer across the team.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python, demonstrating a deep understanding of its ecosystem and best practices.
• Strong proficiency in Django, or other Python API frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask, with a proven track record of building and deploying complex applications.
• Experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and proficiency in using ORM frameworks for efficient data management.
• Solid understanding of API design principles, microservices architecture, and experience building RESTful services.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, including deployment, management, and scaling of applications.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating a strong foundational knowledge.
