- • Lead the development of scalable, high-performance backend systems that power autonomous surface vessels for defense and commercial maritime missions, directly contributing to mission-critical operations that prevent conflict and save lives through collaborative autonomy technology.
- • Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers by setting engineering standards, conducting code reviews, guiding architectural decisions, owning the backend roadmap in partnership with product and engineering leadership, and fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
- • Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly concurrent backend services in Go, architecting distributed systems that support high throughput, reliability, and real-time operations while defining service boundaries, APIs, and data models across systems.
- • Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and resilience by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in distributed systems and concurrency-heavy workloads, ensuring systems meet high standards for uptime and operational reliability.
- • Partner with frontend, platform, autonomy, and embedded teams to integrate services across applications and devices, supporting end-to-end system design from edge devices to cloud infrastructure and contributing to system-level architecture across the stack.
- • Enforce secure development practices across backend systems, maintaining high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation while driving projects from concept to production in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in backend or distributed systems engineering
- • Strong expertise in Go and building highly concurrent systems
- • Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers (formal or informal leadership)
- • Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
- • Strong API design and system architecture skills
- • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
