  • • As a Backline Support Engineer at Motiv Inc., you will be at the forefront of resolving complex technical challenges within our cutting-edge product ecosystem. This role is an integral part of our highly specialized L3 support team, serving as the ultimate technical escalation point for intricate customer issues that cannot be resolved by frontline support teams. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and problem-solving acumen to diagnose and rectify issues at the code and system architecture levels, ensuring the seamless operation of our platform for nearly 100,000 customers across diverse industries.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be advanced troubleshooting and technical resolution. This involves diving deep into complex cases, employing sophisticated diagnostic techniques, and implementing effective solutions. You will be expected to master our comprehensive product suite, which includes Driver Safety, Fleet Management, Equipment Monitoring, and Spend Management, understanding how each component interacts and contributes to the overall customer experience.
  • • A key aspect of this role is maintaining and expanding cross-domain expertise. You will develop an in-depth understanding of all product areas, enabling you to connect the dots between different functionalities and identify root causes that may span multiple modules. This holistic view is crucial for tackling multifaceted problems effectively.
  • • You will play a vital role in process optimization, working to streamline workflows between our engineering, product, and technical support teams. By identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies, you will contribute to creating a more agile and responsive support operation, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing resolution times.
  • • Collaboration with the engineering team is paramount. You will work hand-in-hand with software engineers and architects to develop and implement solutions for issues that require their specialized knowledge. This partnership ensures that complex technical problems are addressed with the highest level of expertise, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • • Your day-to-day activities will involve meticulously analyzing logs using aggregation tools like Datadog to pinpoint anomalies and trace the origin of issues. You will also be adept at querying databases using strong SQL skills to identify and resolve data-related problems. A solid understanding of API troubleshooting is essential, as you will be analyzing and resolving issues related to integrations and external service communications.
  • • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, including services like AWS, Azure, and GCP, will be critical for understanding how these environments impact application performance and for troubleshooting related issues. You will also be expected to utilize version control systems such as Git to understand code changes and their potential impact on system behavior.
  • • While this is a technical role, exceptional customer-facing communication skills are a must. You will be responsible for clearly and concisely communicating troubleshooting progress, technical explanations, and resolutions to customers, ensuring they are informed and confident in our ability to resolve their issues.
  • • A proactive problem-solving mindset is essential. You should be able to quickly identify the core of an issue, devise practical and effective solutions, and implement them efficiently. This includes a commitment to creating and updating knowledge base articles, both internal and customer-facing, to empower others and improve overall support efficiency.
  • • You will actively monitor Datadog dashboards, paying close attention to metrics related to fleet status, driver behavior, equipment health, and spend reports. This proactive monitoring allows you to identify and address potential system issues before they escalate and impact our customers, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of service availability and performance.
