- • Design and optimize utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) to meet project performance, reliability, and scalability targets across the U.S.
- • Lead the full BESS project life cycle from land acquisition through commissioning and commercial operation date (COD).
- • Collaborate with BESS OEMs, EPCs, and their subcontractors to conduct technical negotiations and ensure alignment on system specifications and delivery.
- • Develop and refine performance models to maximize system efficiency, long-term output, and lifecycle value of energy storage assets.
- • Integrate battery energy storage systems with dedicated gas and renewable power generation assets to ensure seamless grid compatibility and operational stability.
- • Build and validate medium-voltage infrastructure calculation tools for large-scale energy projects, ensuring compliance with electrical and safety standards.
- • Apply engineering best practices to design safe, scalable, and code-compliant power systems aligned with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other applicable standards.
- • Support power plant design efforts by contributing technical expertise to electrical architecture, protection schemes, and system interconnection requirements.
- • Partner with cross-functional teams across engineering, development, and execution to translate project concepts into high-performing, deployable infrastructure.
- • Contribute technical input to decision-making throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility to operations.
- • Deliver reliable, high-performance storage solutions that accelerate the renewable energy transition and support Intersect’s mission of decarbonization.
- • Utilize modeling platforms such as PSCAD, ETAP, or equivalent to simulate system behavior under diverse grid conditions and load profiles.
- • Maintain expertise in lithium-ion battery systems, with particular focus on LFP chemistry for stationary energy storage applications.
- • Engage with industry stakeholders including OEMs, EPC firms, and independent power producers to leverage ecosystem knowledge and drive project success.
- • Apply understanding of energy markets, project development cycles, and performance optimization strategies to enhance system economics and operational outcomes.
- • Maintain a detail-oriented, collaborative work style to thrive in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments.
- • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a grounded approach to solving complex engineering challenges at scale.
- • Uphold a commitment to technical excellence, safety, and the development of infrastructure with long-term environmental and societal impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory
- • 3–7 years of experience in energy storage, power generation, or similar industries
- • Hands-on experience designing or supporting utility-scale energy storage or large-scale power systems
- • Expertise in BESS sizing, system design, and performance modeling
- • Experience developing medium-voltage infrastructure models and supporting large-scale plant design
- • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other applicable electrical and safety standards
