đź“‹ Description
- • As a BI Data Engineer at Kpler S.A.S., you will play a pivotal role in transforming complex global trade, energy, and maritime data into reliable, scalable foundations that power business intelligence, analytics, and strategic decision-making across the organisation. Your work will directly enable teams to access accurate, high-quality data, driving informed decisions in fast-moving markets and supporting Kpler’s mission to simplify global trade information for clients worldwide.
- • You will design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools, ensuring seamless ingestion, transformation, and delivery of structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, and flat files into cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift). This includes writing efficient SQL for data modeling, implementing data validation checks, and optimising query performance to support BI dashboards, ad-hoc analysis, and machine learning workflows.
- • You will collaborate closely with data analysts, product managers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, designing dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas) that are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with Kpler’s data governance standards. You will also contribute to the evolution of the data platform by advocating for best practices in data quality, documentation, and metadata management.
- • You will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise pipeline performance and data reliability, implementing alerting and logging mechanisms to ensure high availability and data integrity. This includes conducting root cause analysis on data incidents, proposing preventive measures, and maintaining runbooks for critical data flows.
- • You will participate in code reviews, contribute to CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure, and advocate for automation, testing (unit/integration), and version control (Git) practices to ensure reproducibility and maintainability of data assets. You will also stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and propose improvements to the stack.
- • You will work within Kpler’s international, fast-paced environment, engaging with colleagues across 35+ countries, embracing diverse perspectives, and contributing to a culture of innovation, transparency, and continuous learning. Your contributions will directly impact the speed and accuracy of insights delivered to clients in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.
- • By joining Kpler’s Business Intelligence & Insights team, you will deepen your expertise in scalable data architecture, cloud-native data platforms, and enterprise BI ecosystems while gaining exposure to real-world challenges in commodity trading, energy markets, and global logistics. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of Kpler’s data foundation, influence strategic data initiatives, and grow into a trusted technical leader in data engineering within a high-growth, mission-driven organisation.

- • Experience with modern data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect)
- • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and data lake concepts
- • Strong understanding of data quality, testing, and monitoring practices
