- ⢠As a Bilingual Legal Counsel for Global Solutions at TransUnion, you will provide essential legal services to ensure the corporationās business practices, policies, and operations comply with contractual and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, with a strong focus on privacy, data, technology, and consumer reporting legislation. Your role is critical in safeguarding the company by interpreting complex legal issues, advising management, and ensuring that all activities remain within the bounds of applicable law, particularly in the context of global data flows and international business operations.
- ⢠You will provide day-to-day legal counsel to management, interpret and prepare legal documents, render opinions on complex contractual and regulatory matters, and support the Global Solutions division in navigating international legal landscapes. This includes reviewing products and services for compliance risks, developing risk mitigation strategies, advising on cross-border data transfers, and staying current with evolving privacy and consumer protection laws. You will also collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments such as Compliance, Risk, Sales, and Operations to deliver practical, timely legal guidance and support training initiatives for internal clients.
- ⢠You will join a dynamic, global legal team within TransUnionās Legal department, working closely with the Associate General Counsel for Retail Banking and other legal professionals to ensure alignment on major legal and legislative developments. The team operates in a fast-paced, innovative environment where legal expertise directly supports business growth and risk management in the data and information services industry.
- ⢠In this role, you will deepen your expertise in international commercial law, data privacy regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA, and emerging global frameworks), technology law, and cross-border contractual negotiations. You will develop advanced skills in legal risk assessment, stakeholder management, and strategic advisory, positioning yourself as a trusted legal partner in a multinational corporation driving innovation in consumer reporting and data solutions.
šÆ Requirements
- ⢠Bachelorās degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) and active membership in the law society of your country of residence.
- ⢠5ā7 years of experience as a general commercial lawyer with demonstrated knowledge in privacy legislation, data and technology law, consumer reporting laws, contract law, and corporate commercial matters.
- ⢠Fluency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory; ability to draft clear, concise legal documents is required. Spanish proficiency is implied by the bilingual nature of the role and the Costa Rica-based remote work arrangement.
- ⢠Proven ability to manage multiple, complex, and shifting priorities with strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- ⢠Proficiency with legal technology tools and experience working in team environments across all levels of an organization, including effective collaboration with peers, management, and external stakeholders.
- ⢠Willingness to travel occasionally and attend in-person work-related events as required, despite the remote nature of the position.
