Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Serve as a bilingual (Spanish/English) psychotherapist delivering evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults across New York State. You will work both in person and via secure telehealth, ensuring culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors the lived experiences of Latinx and other underserved communities.
  • • Develop, implement, and continuously refine goal-oriented treatment plans that are strengths-based and aligned with each client’s unique cultural context. You will integrate modalities such as CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, or motivational interviewing as clinically indicated, while documenting measurable objectives and tracking progress in our state-of-the-art EHR.
  • • Provide rapid crisis intervention and de-escalation when safety risks arise, collaborating closely with emergency departments, schools, child protective services, and community partners. Your calm presence and bilingual fluency will be critical in moments of acute distress, ensuring families feel heard and supported.
  • • Complete all clinical documentation—intake assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and incident reports—within mandated timeframes (typically 24–48 hours) while exceeding OMH Article 31 and Medicaid compliance standards. Attention to detail and mastery of electronic systems will safeguard continuity of care and regulatory adherence.
  • • Participate in weekly individual and group clinical supervision led by seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists. These reflective sessions sharpen diagnostic acumen, ethical decision-making, and culturally humble practice, accelerating your path toward full licensure.
  • • Engage in interdisciplinary case conferences, school-based meetings, and family-team huddles to coordinate wraparound services including psychiatry, care management, housing, and vocational supports. Your advocacy ensures that language barriers never impede access to vital resources.
  • • Contribute to program development by piloting new Spanish-language groups (e.g., parenting workshops, trauma recovery circles, adolescent identity groups) and evaluating outcomes for grant reporting and quality-improvement initiatives. Your entrepreneurial spirit will shape innovative service lines that respond to emerging community needs.
  • • Maintain a flexible, fee-for-service schedule that balances client demand with self-care. You control your caseload—whether you prefer 15 sessions per week or 35—while earning competitive per-session rates that increase with advanced credentials and specialized trainings.
  • • Leverage AthenaPsych’s robust professional development pipeline: free CEUs, license-exam prep courses, LP application reimbursement, and bilingual supervision hours that count toward LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT licensure. Your growth is our mission.
  • • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in every interaction. From translating psychoeducational materials to co-facilitating multicultural staff trainings, you will be a visible leader in reducing mental health disparities across New York’s urban and rural Latinx communities.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy from an accredited university
  • • Limited Permit (LP) eligibility in New York State; no expired permits accepted
  • • Professional fluency in Spanish and English (speaking, reading, writing) to conduct therapy and documentation bilingually
  • • Demonstrated passion for serving underserved populations with cultural humility and trauma-informed lens
  • • Prior experience in an OMH Article 31 or Article 28 clinic strongly preferred

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Weekly individual and group clinical supervision provided by licensed, bilingual supervisors at no cost
  • • Free CEU credits, license-exam prep courses, and full reimbursement of Limited Permit application fees
  • • Flexible fee-for-service scheduling that empowers you to set caseload and hours while earning $50K–$100K annually based on credentials and session volume
  • • Medical, dental, vision, life, and malpractice insurance; 401(k) with 3 % match; paid sick leave; commuter and health flexible spending accounts; plus bonus pay for evening and weekend sessions
