  • • The Bilingual Renewal & Sales Associate, Group Benefits role at Manulife Financial Corporation is critical to ensuring the financial health and satisfaction of small to mid-sized group benefit clients (under 50 lives) by driving accurate, timely, and strategic renewal outcomes that balance cost control with client value. This position directly impacts client retention and advisor satisfaction by translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing, managing, and negotiating renewals for group benefit plans under 50 lives, ensuring pricing accuracy and adherence to timelines; analyzing claims experience, plan performance, and rate history to develop data-driven renewal outcomes and recommendations; recommending plan design modifications and cost-control strategies aligned with client needs and long-term sustainability; partnering with Account Executives to provide renewal insights and strategic input that strengthens client relationships; presenting and communicating renewal results clearly to advisors and internal teams, explaining rate drivers and plan implications in both English and French; monitoring internal systems and tools to ensure all renewal information, rate changes, and plan updates are captured and processed correctly; supporting a seamless renewal workflow by prioritizing cases, escalating issues when needed, and ensuring progress according to defined timelines; and collaborating with underwriting, operations, and customer service teams to resolve issues or obtain additional information required to complete renewals.

  • • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in group benefits underwriting, renewal analytics, and client-facing communication, gaining valuable experience in negotiation, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration—skills that are highly transferable and foundational for advancement into senior underwriting, account management, or actuarial roles within Manulife’s global benefits division.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Fully bilingual (French/English) with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages to support clients across jurisdictions outside of Quebec.
  • • College or university degree or equivalent industry experience, with CEBS Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation or the ability to attain it within 3 years.
  • • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including proficiency in analyzing claims experience, plan performance, and rate history to develop renewal outcomes and recommendations.
  • • Proficiency with PC tools including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint) and the ability to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and multitasking accurately.
  • • Excellent time-management, negotiation, conflict-management, problem-solving, and organizational skills, coupled with exceptional customer service capabilities and a collaborative, empathetic, and adaptable team-player mindset.
