📋 Description

• • Own the full lifecycle of C-level enhancements to ActianX Vector(MPP), the massively-parallel engine that powers the Actian Data Platform. You will architect, code, test and maintain features that directly influence how petabyte-scale workloads run across on-prem, SaaS and managed-service deployments.
• • Translate complex relational-algebra problems into high-performance C implementations. Typical tasks include rewriting the query optimizer’s cost model, vectorizing new SQL operators, or shaving microseconds off critical-path latches—every change you ship is benchmarked against real customer data and measured in wall-clock time.
• • Build bullet-proof regression suites that run 24×7 in our CI pipeline on Linux and Windows. You will author Python/Bash harnesses, craft multi-threaded stress tests and use sanitizers, profilers and tracers to ensure that your code remains stable under memory-pressure, NUMA effects and mixed I/O workloads.
• • Collaborate daily with Support, QA and Product Management to triage escalations from Fortune-500 customers. You will reproduce field issues in-house, propose root-cause fixes, and present design reviews that balance short-term patches with long-term architectural health.
• • Partner with external compiler teams and open-source communities to integrate new language features, character-set encodings or code-generation back ends. Your ability to read and extend grammars, ASTs and IRs will keep Actian at the forefront of SQL standard compliance and performance.
• • Work autonomously in a globally distributed squad that spans Bangalore, Pune, Silicon Valley and London. You will set your own sprint goals, demo progress in weekly tech talks, and mentor junior engineers through pair-programming and code-reviews.
• • Contribute to the product roadmap by translating customer pain-points into measurable engineering OKRs. Whether it is 2× faster TPC-DS queries, 30 % lower memory footprint or zero-downtime rolling upgrades, your fingerprints will be on the next release headline.
• • Champion clean, idiomatic C (C99/C11) that compiles warning-free on GCC, Clang and MSVC. You will enforce static-analysis gates, write exhaustive unit tests and document every public API so that downstream teams can integrate your work without friction.
• • Stay ahead of the curve by experimenting with eBPF tracing, io_uring, SIMD intrinsics or GPU offload. We encourage 10 % innovation time for spikes that may become tomorrow’s competitive edge.
