đź“‹ Description
- • As a Category Manager, Mechanical at Crusoe Energy Systems LLC, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical procurement strategy that underpins the company’s vertically integrated AI infrastructure stack — from energy systems to data center hardware — ensuring that mechanical components are sourced efficiently, reliably, and sustainably to support the scaling of AI workloads worldwide.
- • This role is critical to Crusoe’s mission of solving the power bottleneck in AI compute by optimizing mechanical sourcing for modular data centers, liquid cooling systems, power distribution units, and mechanical infrastructure that enable high-density, low-latency AI operations at scale.
- • Develop and execute category strategies for mechanical components including HVAC, piping, valves, pumps, structural supports, enclosures, and thermal management systems aligned with Crusoe’s energy-first AI infrastructure roadmap.
- • Conduct market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate supply chain risks, and drive innovation in mechanical sourcing for modular and containerized data center deployments.
- • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services teams to translate technical requirements into procurement specifications and ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into AI-optimized facilities.
- • Lead supplier qualification, negotiation, and contract management for key mechanical vendors, leveraging volume commitments and strategic partnerships to secure favorable terms, lead times, and quality assurances.
- • Monitor and report on category performance metrics including cost variance, delivery reliability, supplier performance, and sustainability KPIs (e.g., carbon footprint of materials, recyclability) to support ESG goals.
- • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for standardization, modularization, and localization of mechanical components across Crusoe’s growing portfolio of AI infrastructure sites.
- • Crusoe Energy Systems LLC is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure pioneer that owns and operates every layer of the AI stack — from flared gas-powered electricity generation to modular data centers and cloud services — enabling sustainable, high-performance computing for the world’s most demanding AI workloads.
- • The company operates at the intersection of energy, manufacturing, and advanced computing, with a culture rooted in urgency, technical excellence, and mission-driven innovation, where employees are empowered to solve hard problems in uncharted territory.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in strategic sourcing for complex mechanical systems within high-tech, energy-intensive environments, gaining rare exposure to the end-to-end lifecycle of AI infrastructure — from electron to token.
- • You will have the opportunity to influence sustainability and efficiency outcomes at scale, contributing directly to Crusoe’s goal of making AI infrastructure better for the planet while accelerating the pace of AI innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field
- • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement of mechanical systems, HVAC, piping, or industrial equipment — preferably in data center, energy, or manufacturing environments
- • Proven ability to analyze technical specifications, conduct supplier evaluations, and negotiate complex contracts for engineered mechanical components
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation package including base salary and performance-based bonus
- • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) included in all offers to align employee success with company growth
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions to HSA accounts
- • Paid parental leave, mental health & wellness support, and professional development & tuition reimbursement
- • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary, commuter benefits, and cell phone stipend
- • Volunteer time off, daily meals allowance, global travel insurance, and additional location-specific perks
