📋 Description

• Architect, build, and continuously optimize Best Buy Canada’s enterprise-scale Snowflake platform, ensuring it can ingest, transform, and serve petabyte-level data for merchandising, e-commerce, supply-chain, and customer-analytics use cases.
• Own the end-to-end reliability of the Snowflake estate—designing for 99.9 % uptime, implementing automated failover and point-in-time recovery, and acting as the primary incident commander during outages to restore service within agreed SLAs.
• Establish and enforce rigorous data-governance frameworks: role-based access control (RBAC), dynamic data masking, row-level security, object tagging, and integration with enterprise identity providers to satisfy PCI, PIPEDA, and internal audit requirements.
• Curate bronze (raw), silver (cleansed), and gold (business-ready) data quality zones inside Snowflake; author dbt models, data tests, and quality scorecards that surface anomalies to upstream owners and automatically quarantine bad records.
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions–driven CI/CD pipelines that provision Snowflake objects, migrate schema changes, run automated test suites, and promote code through dev → test → prod with full auditability and rollback capabilities.
• Automate every repeatable Snowflake operation—user & role provisioning, warehouse resizing, storage-cost optimization, micro-partition clustering, search-optimization service tuning—using Python, Terraform, and Snowflake’s programmatic interfaces.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, and application teams to translate business questions into scalable Snowflake solutions; conduct design reviews, performance-tuning clinics, and brown-bag sessions to raise data literacy across the company.
• Monitor platform health and spend through Snowflake’s Account Usage views, custom dashboards in Grafana, and FinOps best practices; publish monthly cost-and-performance reports with actionable recommendations to business stakeholders.
• Lead data-remediation playbooks: detect data-quality regressions via Great Expectations or Monte Carlo, orchestrate corrective workflows in Airflow, and institute preventive controls so the same issues never reach production twice.
• Contribute to the broader Azure data ecosystem by integrating Snowflake with ADF pipelines, Synapse workspaces, and ADLS Gen2 storage accounts, ensuring seamless hybrid-cloud patterns and minimal data latency.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement—experiment with new Snowflake features such as Dynamic Tables, Iceberg Tables, or Native Apps, run proof-of-concepts, and socialize findings that could give Best Buy a competitive edge.
• Mentor junior engineers and analysts, conduct code reviews, and maintain internal documentation in Confluence so knowledge is democratized and never siloed.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience engineering and administering Snowflake in an enterprise environment with multi-terabyte data volumes.
• Proven track record designing and governing bronze/silver/gold data quality zones and implementing data-masking, RBAC, and compliance controls.
• Expert-level proficiency with CI/CD for Snowflake using Git and GitHub Actions (or comparable tools) and infrastructure-as-code via Terraform.
• Strong Python or SQL scripting skills for automation, data remediation, and cost-optimization routines.
• Nice-to-have: working knowledge of the Azure data stack (ADF, Synapse, ADLS Gen2) and familiarity with data-catalog and lineage tools such as Alation, Collibra, or OpenMetadata.
