  • • As a Certified Nursing Assistant II (CNAII) at Avera Health, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate and high-quality direct care to residents within our skilled nursing facility, Avera Prince of Peace. This PRN position offers a dynamic work environment with rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, ensuring you can contribute to our mission of Moving Health Forward while maintaining flexibility.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive assistance to residents with their daily living activities, ensuring their physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs are met to promote their highest level of independent function. This involves a wide range of tasks, from personal hygiene and comfort care to mobility assistance and environmental maintenance.
  • • You will perform routine and non-routine duties under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This includes assisting residents with bathing, dressing, shaving, and oral hygiene. You will also be responsible for making beds, assisting with transfers into and out of bed, repositioning residents to prevent pressure sores, and managing toileting needs.
  • • Serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and assisting with feeding, and promptly responding to call lights are integral parts of this role, ensuring residents' comfort and well-being are prioritized. Maintaining a clean and safe resident environment is also a key duty, contributing to overall resident satisfaction and health.
  • • A crucial aspect of your role will involve monitoring residents' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight. You will meticulously document this information on the appropriate forms, providing concise and factual data for the nursing staff.
  • • You will also perform or assist residents in specific medical care activities as directed by nursing staff, adhering strictly to established policies and procedures. This may include assisting residents with restorative exercises and collecting specimens. Your ability to assess and document completed cares, and to provide immediate feedback to nursing staff on any changes in patient condition, pain management, or other concerns, is vital for effective patient care.
  • • Beyond direct resident care, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the unit by assisting with restocking supplies and maintaining an appropriate work environment. This includes adhering to cleaning procedures to ensure a hygienic and safe space.
  • • You will be a source of emotional, educational, and spiritual support for residents and their families, fostering a positive and caring atmosphere. Upholding resident rights, including confidentiality and privacy, is paramount. You are expected to report any allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property promptly and appropriately.
  • • Safety is a core value at Avera. You will be expected to understand and follow established policies and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plans, universal precautions, infection control, and hazardous chemical communication. Your commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents, families, and staff is essential.
  • • In this role, you will also have the opportunity to mentor new employees and assist with their orientation, serving as a positive role model. By embodying Avera's CARE standards (Communication, Attitude, Responsiveness, and Engagement), you will help enforce these values with your co-workers, contributing to a cohesive and high-performing team.
  • • This position requires a commitment to Avera's mission, vision, core values, and social principles, demonstrating compassion, hospitality, and stewardship in all interactions. You will work effectively in a team environment, coordinating workflow and ensuring a productive and efficient atmosphere, while complying with all relevant safety principles, laws, and regulations.
  • • The PRN nature of this role provides flexibility, allowing you to contribute your skills on an as-needed basis while being an integral part of our dedicated healthcare team. Your dedication to providing exceptional care will directly impact the lives of our residents and support Avera Health's commitment to excellence in senior care.
