• • As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Bjak Sdn. Bhd., you will be instrumental in shaping the technological future of our rapidly growing company. You will lead the charge in defining and executing our technical strategy, ensuring that our platforms are not only innovative and scalable but also robust and reliable. This is a pivotal role where you will have the autonomy to architect our systems, build and mentor a world-class engineering team, and drive product excellence. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding our transition into an AI-integrated future, building upon our success as the leading digital insurance platform in Southeast Asia.
• • **Technical Direction & Architecture:** You will be responsible for defining the long-term architectural vision for all of Bjak's systems, infrastructure, and the developer platform. This involves a deep understanding of trade-offs between rapid iteration and sustainable, long-term system design. You will ensure that our systems are built with scalability, reliability, and future evolution as core tenets. Your guidance will be critical in key decision-making processes related to model integration, the development of sophisticated data pipelines, the architecture of distributed systems, and the overall product architecture. This includes evaluating emerging technologies and their potential application to enhance our offerings and operational efficiency.
• • **Engineering Leadership & Team Building:** A significant part of your role will involve leading and nurturing our engineering talent. You will collaborate closely with engineers to translate high-level product direction into actionable technical execution plans. This includes structuring engineering workstreams, ensuring teams are aligned on priorities, and maintaining exceptionally high engineering standards while fostering a culture of rapid and efficient delivery. You will be tasked with building and scaling a world-class engineering team, identifying and developing strong technical leaders, and establishing robust hiring standards and interview processes to maintain a consistently high engineering bar across our global talent hubs, including China and the US. Your leadership will be key in fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
• • **Product & Business Alignment:** You will work hand-in-hand with product management, research, and executive leadership teams to ensure technological initiatives are tightly aligned with business objectives. Your role is to bridge the gap between technical possibilities and market needs, ensuring that our engineering efforts directly contribute to Bjak's mission of creating successful businesses and positively impacting society through efficiency. You will facilitate smooth progress of technical workstreams across different teams and geographical locations, proactively identifying and resolving cross-team technical and execution challenges.
• • **Innovation & AI Integration:** Given our mission to build superior applications integrated with AI, you will play a key role in guiding our AI strategy. This includes evaluating and integrating AI models, designing data strategies that support AI initiatives, and ensuring our infrastructure can support advanced AI workloads. You will champion innovation, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies that can provide a competitive advantage and enhance user experience.
• • **Operational Excellence & Culture:** You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong engineering culture characterized by collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to excellence. This includes defining development practices, technical standards, and fostering an environment where engineers feel empowered to own features end-to-end, from initial design discussions through to production monitoring. You will promote a culture of open communication, rigorous code and design reviews, and rapid, informed decision-making, ensuring we continue to ship high-quality products frequently.
