📋 Description

• As Chief Financial Officer at Griffin Banking Ltd, you will serve as a strategic leader responsible for shaping the financial future of a regulated, API-first bank built to empower innovative fintechs and brands to embed financial products. Reporting directly to the CEO and holding an Executive Director seat on the Board, you will be pivotal in guiding Griffin through its high-growth phase, ensuring financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and alignment with ambitious product and engineering initiatives like the Banksy core banking system and new card issuing platform.
• You will own Griffin’s financial strategy and operating model, leading the Chart function (Finance team) of seven across FP&A, Prudential, Treasury Operations, and Financial Control. Your role will involve chairing the Executive ALCO, overseeing critical financial modelling including ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery and Exit Plans, and LCP, while ensuring ongoing compliance with PRA and FCA regulatory capital and liquidity requirements. You will act as the primary liaison with regulators, representing Griffin with credibility and candour.
• Day-to-day, you will drive financial planning and analysis, support budgeting and forecasting for business growth, and partner closely with Product and Engineering teams on pricing strategy, unit economics, and the financial foundations of new product launches. You will actively contribute to fundraising efforts, engage with investors, and ensure the business is adequately resourced to hit growth targets while maintaining cost discipline amid triple-digit % growth.
• You will lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of ownership, efficiency, and innovation by leveraging AI and SaaS tools to modernise financial operations. Your hands-on approach will ensure problems are solved at the root, and you will champion clarity in financial storytelling — translating complexity into clear signals for the Board, investors, and internal teams.
• The Griffin Finance team operates as a strategic engine room, balancing commercial ambition with regulatory rigor. You will join a transparent, remote-first, asynchronous culture that values high trust, high autonomy, and open challenge. 🎯 Requirements

• Senior finance leadership experience in banking or fintech with a strong grasp of the FCA/PRA regulatory environment
• Proven background in FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support business growth
• Demonstrated ability to partner commercially on pricing strategy, unit economics, and bottom-line ownership, not just act as a financial gatekeeper
• Hands-on, disciplined approach with a track record of rolling up sleeves to resolve problems at root and drive team performance
• Strong commitment to productivity and efficiency, with active interest in leveraging AI and SaaS tools to modernise finance operations
