- • Serve as a bilingual Chin Mara-English phone interpreter, facilitating real-time verbal communication between limited-English speakers and English-speaking professionals across industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, insurance, finance, and education.
- • Render conversations accurately and completely, adhering strictly to interpretation protocols by avoiding omissions, additions, or personal commentary during all interpreting sessions.
- • Maintain professional demeanor and neutrality at all times, even during emotionally intense or high-stress calls such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy terminations, or trauma-related emergencies.
- • Interpret in both Chin Mara and English with clear pronunciation, proper enunciation, and culturally appropriate expressions to ensure mutual understanding between speakers.
- • Respond promptly to on-demand calls and remain available during scheduled work hours to meet client service demands and maintain consistent response times.
- • Apply cultural competency to navigate regional dialects, accents, and cultural nuances when communicating with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals.
- • Adhere to industry-specific terminology and procedures in medical, legal, financial, and emergency response contexts without prior written preparation, as this is a verbal interpreting role, not a translation role.
- • Remain calm and focused during extended calls, especially when callers are incoherent, upset, or under duress, and comply with client instructions to avoid direct interaction with LEP individuals unless explicitly permitted.
- • Operate within a secure, quiet home office environment free from background noise or distractions to ensure confidentiality and clarity during all interpreting sessions.
- • Utilize provided technology platforms and systems, adapting to any enhancements or updates implemented by LanguageLine Solutions to improve service delivery.
- • Follow all company policies regarding data security, confidentiality, and equipment usage, including prohibited software (Kaspersky) and hardware (Huawei).
- • Demonstrate commitment to inclusivity and diversity by respecting sensitive topics including sexual orientation, gender expression, and religious or cultural beliefs.
- • Maintain punctuality, reliability, and consistent availability to uphold company standards of service, particularly during peak call volumes or emergency response periods.
- • Possess the ability to type or write, operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and remain in a stationary position for extended periods during work hours.
- • Ensure access to a dedicated personal device (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, Android, iOS) and a high-speed internet connection with minimum download speeds of 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping ≤ 300 ms, and jitter ≤ 30 ms.
- • Be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship.
- • Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- • Successfully complete any required post-offer background check or drug screening based on location.
- • Maintain the ability to lift up to 26 lbs if required for equipment setup or relocation.
- • Be prepared for exposure to moderate noise levels from computer systems, audio feeds, and telecommunication equipment during work hours.
