📋 Description

• Serve as a Chuj-English telephone interpreter, facilitating real-time verbal communication between Chuj-speaking individuals and English speakers across critical industries including healthcare, 911, law enforcement, court, government, insurance, finance, and education.
• Render accurate interpretations by conveying meaning without omissions, additions, or personal commentary, adhering strictly to professional interpretation protocols.
• Maintain clarity, proper pronunciation, and polite expression in both Chuj and English during all interpreting sessions, regardless of subject complexity.
• Remain calm, neutral, and objective during high-stress calls, including emergency 911 responses and emotionally intense conversations involving end-of-life care, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, or matters related to gender identity and sexual orientation.
• Ensure professional conduct at all times, refraining from direct interaction with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals unless explicitly permitted by the client.
• Demonstrate cultural competency by recognizing regional dialects, accents, and cultural nuances to enhance communication effectiveness with Chuj-speaking populations.
• Utilize strong listening, retention, and note-taking skills to preserve accuracy and context during live interpretations.
• Maintain punctuality and consistent availability during scheduled work hours to ensure reliable service delivery.
• Comply with all client-specific instructions and industry-specific terminology in medical, legal, financial, and government settings.
• Operate from a dedicated home office with a quiet, secure environment free from background noise or distractions to ensure confidentiality and call quality.
• Adapt to technological updates and platform enhancements implemented by LanguageLine Solutions to improve service delivery and meet client requirements.
• Handle high call volumes and extended call durations without breaks when necessary, sustaining service quality under demanding conditions.
• Use only approved personal devices for business purposes: desktops, laptops (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS), tablets (iOS or Android), or smartphones (iOS or Android).
• Avoid use of restricted technology, including Kaspersky software products and Huawei hardware.
• Maintain a reliable high-speed internet connection with minimum download speeds of 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, ping ≤ 300 ms, and jitter ≤ 30 ms.
• Operate standard computer hardware including keyboard and mouse for extended periods while remaining in a stationary position during work hours.
• Possess sufficient manual dexterity to type or write as needed.
• Be able to lift up to 26 lbs if required for equipment handling.
• Work in an environment with moderate noise levels from computer, audio, and telephone systems.

🎯 Requirements

• Native or near-native fluency in both Chuj and English, with demonstrated cultural competency in Chuj-speaking communities
• Ability to interpret verbally in real-time without written translation, maintaining accuracy and neutrality
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Access to a dedicated personal device and high-speed internet meeting specified technical standards
