📋 Description

• • LanguageLine Solutions is seeking dedicated and skilled Chuukese-English Video-Phone Interpreters to join their mission of breaking down language and cultural barriers, thereby significantly improving the lives of limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.
• • As a Chuukese Interpreter, you will be responsible for handling on-demand calls, accurately rendering the meaning of conversations between Chuukese and English speakers across a diverse range of industries including healthcare, government, insurance, financial services, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, courts, and emergency services (911).
• • Your day-to-day activities will involve responding promptly to video and audio interpreting sessions, conducting interpretations in a friendly and professional manner, and participating in online, video, and audio training sessions to continuously enhance your skills.
• • You will deliver interpretation services via video and expediently type data on a dedicated device, such as a laptop, desktop computer, mobile phone, or tablet, to perform essential job functions. This role requires you to render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding any omissions or additions, and to speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• • Maintaining a professional demeanor throughout all video and audio interpreting sessions is paramount. You must remain calm and composed, even when faced with incoherent or upset speakers, particularly in high-stress emergency situations like 911 calls.
• • Punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours are critical. You will follow client instructions precisely, adhering to protocol to ensure client expectations are met while interacting with Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals, always avoiding direct interaction without client permission.
• • A key aspect of the role involves understanding and applying specific protocols and terminology for various industries, including but not limited to, medical, insurance, finance, and law. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse work environment.
• • Some calls may be highly emotional and/or stressful, requiring you to remain on the call for extended periods without breaks. You must be able to provide the required company standards of service within this dynamic and sometimes demanding environment.
