- • Lead the development, evolution, and continuous improvement of civil and structural engineering standards, specifications, design criteria, and best practices across Intersect’s utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage project portfolio.
- • Drive standardization initiatives that enhance quality, constructability, efficiency, and long-term performance of infrastructure projects through scalable engineering processes and governance frameworks.
- • Integrate lessons learned from project execution into reusable engineering protocols to improve technical consistency and organizational effectiveness across all phases of development.
- • Collaborate with Development Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Asset Management, Legal, Finance, EPC partners, consultants, and equipment suppliers to strengthen technical rigor and improve project delivery outcomes.
- • Improve engineering-related EPC contract exhibits, technical requirements, and supporting documentation to align with portfolio learnings and project objectives.
- • Support contracting strategies that reduce risk, increase consistency, and create long-term value by embedding technical excellence into commercial agreements.
- • Identify, evaluate, and advance emerging technologies, equipment solutions, and innovative design approaches to improve project reliability, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery timelines.
- • Lead technical due diligence efforts, pilot programs, and implementation strategies for new engineering methodologies and technologies across the project portfolio.
- • Monitor industry trends and assess opportunities to adopt innovations that enhance performance, safety, and scalability of energy and data center infrastructure.
- • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for civil and structural engineering across the organization, influencing design, procurement, construction, and operational teams.
- • Promote knowledge sharing by developing scalable engineering tools, templates, and processes that support consistent application of standards across multiple projects and teams.
- • Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging thoughtful evaluation and adoption of new engineering solutions while maintaining alignment with business and operational goals.
- • Provide technical expertise to resolve complex engineering and commercial challenges during project development, permitting, and construction phases.
- • Support portfolio growth by ensuring technical excellence, disciplined decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration in all engineering activities.
- • Partner closely with internal stakeholders and external EPC contractors to manage site design from early-stage due diligence through Issued for Construction documentation.
- • Ensure all engineering practices comply with applicable codes, standards, permitting requirements, and technical risk management frameworks.
- • Balance strategic thinking with attention to detail to deliver practical, executable solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.
- • Maintain a collaborative leadership style that aligns innovation, standardization, and operational efficiency with organizational growth targets.
- • Participate in team gatherings at Intersect’s Hub locations (SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, Denver, CO, Austin, TX, Calgary, AB, Toronto, ON) four times annually to strengthen team cohesion and shared experiences.
- • Operate within a fully flexible workplace model with no enforced remote, hybrid, or in-office policy — candidates must be located within 60 miles of one of the listed Hub locations to enable in-person connection opportunities.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience accepted
- • 7+ years of technical civil and/or structural design experience, including 2+ years leading multidisciplinary design processes for utility-scale power projects
- • Demonstrated success developing engineering standards, specifications, design criteria, governance frameworks, and continuous improvement programs across multiple projects or portfolios
- • Strong understanding of design development, construction methods, applicable codes and standards, permitting considerations, technical risk management, and EPC contracting structures
- • Strong project management, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
- • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
