Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Claims Adjuster at Lancer Claims Services, a division of Brown & Brown Insurance, you will be at the forefront of managing complex liability insurance claims, with a specialized focus on errors and omissions (E&O) claims. This role is designed for a self-starter who thrives in a meritocracy, demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service and outcomes for our clients.
  • • You will be entrusted with adjusting difficult losses for assigned programs, often involving high stakes and significant attention from clients, underwriting carriers, sponsoring companies, and CalSurance Associates. This responsibility necessitates a proactive approach to claim investigation and resolution.
  • • A key aspect of your role will involve conducting thorough research into applicable coverage for our insureds. This includes meticulously documenting coverage dates, limits, and any specific restrictions that may impact claim handling.
  • • You will be responsible for identifying and resolving potential coverage questions, which may involve drafting reservation of rights letters and coverage denials. These critical documents will require careful consideration and will be submitted for review and approval by the Coverage Senior Claims Adjuster, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • • A significant part of your day-to-day will involve securing essential supporting documentation for your assigned claims. This includes gathering materials from the insured's file, reviewing underwriting guidelines, analyzing the underwriting carrier's investigation package, and examining phone logs.
  • • You will also be tasked with investigating the facts of the underlying loss. This will require you to skillfully secure statements from relevant parties and collect supporting documentation such as copies of policies, police reports, repair estimates, new account profiles, and risk tolerance questionnaires.
  • • A core function of this role is the application of sound judgment in assessing legal liability for assigned claims. You will be empowered with full settlement authority up to your specific delegated limit, which can vary depending on the carrier, demanding a high degree of autonomy and decision-making capability.
  • • When necessary, you will be responsible for assigning defense counsel to represent and defend lawsuits. This involves not only the initial assignment but also the ongoing monitoring and direction of defense counsel, independent adjusters, and subject matter experts to ensure a cohesive and effective defense strategy.
  • • You will proactively identify claims that present potential exposure exceeding your settlement authority and will promptly advise your Claims Supervisor/Team Lead, facilitating timely escalation and strategic planning.
  • • Adherence to the guidelines of the Fair Claims Practices 790.03 is paramount, ensuring all claim handling practices are compliant and ethical.
  • • Maintaining open and consistent communication is vital. You will provide insureds, claimants, and sponsoring companies with regular, clear updates on the status of their file handling, managing expectations and fostering trust.
  • • You will engage in discussions with your Claims Supervisor/Team Lead regarding unique and complex files or emerging issues, contributing to a collaborative problem-solving environment.
  • • This position may require routine or periodic travel, necessitating the use of your own vehicle or a rental vehicle, underscoring the dynamic nature of the role.
  • • The company fosters a culture built on meritocracy, rewarding initiative and dedication to customer best interests. You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals with over 35 years of experience in providing innovative claim management solutions, known for personalized service and exceptional results.
