📋 Description

• As a Clinical AI Engineer at Heidi Health, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission to restore humanity to healthcare by building an AI Care Partner that reduces clinician burnout and enhances patient care. Your unique blend of medical expertise and engineering skill will directly shape AI systems used in real-world clinical settings, ensuring they are safe, effective, and aligned with frontline needs.
• You will design and implement end-to-end AI features that automate clinical workflows, integrating voice AI and large language models (LLMs) into fullstack applications spanning React/TypeScript frontends and Python backend services. This includes architecting solutions from database schema to user interface, ensuring seamless functionality across the stack.
• You will operationalize voice AI by building and refining audio processing pipelines, optimizing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and LLM agent performance for accuracy and robustness in diverse, noisy medical environments such as hospitals and clinics.
• You will serve as a critical bridge between clinical feedback and technical execution, translating nuanced input from doctors and nurses into rapid prototyping and deployment of improvements in model behavior, prompting strategies, and audio handling to enhance usability and safety.
• You will optimize system performance for real-time interaction, tuning latency in audio streaming and token generation to deliver a smooth, conversational experience that feels natural and responsive during clinical encounters.
• You will collaborate closely with implementation and clinical teams to accelerate feature delivery, turning clinician requests and integration needs into production-ready solutions in days rather than quarters, thereby shortening feedback loops and increasing impact.
• You will uphold rigorous engineering standards by implementing comprehensive testing, observability, and feedback loops to monitor AI feature performance in live production environments, ensuring reliability and trustworthiness beyond the development stage.
• You will contribute to a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and mutual support, where ideas are valued by merit and everyone is empowered to improve the product and each other through honest feedback and shared growth.

🎯 Requirements

• Medical degree with direct clinical experience
• Proficiency in fullstack development using Python and React/TypeScript, including database design, API development, and UI implementation
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and audio technologies such as ASR and speech processing
• Ability to work independently with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including containerization, serverless functions, and CI/CD pipeline management
• Experience shipping AI features in production environments with a focus on observability, testing, and real-world performance monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to balance engineering rigor with pragmatic, speed-focused decision-making to unblock clinical needs
