📋 Description

• As the first dedicated Clinical Data Scientist at Counsel Health, you will serve as the critical bridge between complex healthcare data and actionable business intelligence, transforming raw data into strategic insights that drive patient outcomes and company growth in a rapidly scaling AI-native medical group.
• You will own the analytics layer by building and maintaining SQL views and transformations in the data warehouse, ensuring reliable, automated reporting that eliminates manual Excel processes and enables real-time decision-making across the organization.
• Your day-to-day will involve analyzing de-identified clinical data to monitor antimicrobial stewardship, track patient outcomes, and identify population health trends, directly supporting Counsel’s mission to deliver personalized, AI-enabled care at scale.
• You will integrate internal and external data sources—including Stripe, CRM systems, and clinical APIs—to answer strategic business questions in partnership with the SVP of Finance & Operations, shaping product direction and operational efficiency.
• You will implement and own AI-first BI/visualization tools (such as Hex or Sigma), creating self-service dashboards that empower cross-functional teams to explore data independently and reduce dependency on centralized reporting.
• Collaborating closely with the AI engineering team, you will design reverse-ETL pipelines and intelligence layers to feed clinical summaries back into models, enabling near real-time clinical decision support and model improvement.
• You will champion data democratization by training and mentoring non-technical team members in data literacy, fostering a culture where insights are accessible, timely, and actionable for all.
• Operating within Counsel’s values-driven culture, you will prioritize patient safety and simplicity, ensuring that all data work aligns with the mission to multiply global healthcare capacity through elegant, ethical AI solutions.
• In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to define Counsel’s clinical data standards, tooling strategy, and analytics roadmap as the foundational data hire, directly influencing how the company scales its AI-native medical group to serve hundreds of thousands of patients.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Data Science or Analytics within Healthcare or HealthTech
• Deep expertise in SQL, with dbt experience considered a plus
• Strong experience with data visualization/BI tools such as Hex, Tableau, or Sigma
• Proven ability to work with de-identified datasets and maintain HIPAA-compliant data privacy and security practices
• Experience joining diverse API-based data sources (e.g., Stripe, CRM, Clinical APIs)
