- • Join Founda as a Cloud Engineer and become the architect of the infrastructure that will power the next generation of healthcare data exchange. You will design, build, and scale the cloud-native systems that move millions of clinical records, images, and documents securely between hospitals, labs, and digital-health applications every day.
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of our multi-region, multi-cloud platform (AWS + GCP). From IaC templates written in Terraform and Pulumi to Kubernetes manifests and Helm charts, you will ensure every component is reproducible, observable, and resilient to regional failures.
- • Champion infrastructure-as-code best practices. You will review pull requests that touch Terraform modules, enforce tagging and cost-allocation policies, and mentor backend engineers so that infrastructure changes are peer-reviewed, versioned, and rolled out through automated CI/CD pipelines just like application code.
- • Guarantee 99.9 % uptime for services that clinicians depend on during critical patient-care moments. You will design self-healing clusters, implement chaos-engineering experiments, and create runbooks that reduce MTTR to minutes—not hours—when alerts fire at 3 a.m.
- • Optimize cloud spend without compromising performance. You will analyze cost-anomaly reports, right-size EC2 and GKE node pools, negotiate Reserved Instance and Committed Use Discounts, and build auto-scaling policies that keep our unit-economics healthy as transaction volume grows 10× year-over-year.
- • Secure every byte of PHI and PII we touch. You will harden VPCs with least-privilege IAM roles, rotate secrets via Vault, enforce TLS 1.3 everywhere, and maintain SOC-2 and HIPAA compliance evidence so auditors become fans instead of foes.
- • Instrument everything for observability. You will deploy Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry collectors, craft SLIs/SLOs that map directly to clinician workflows, and build alerting rules that page the right on-call engineer before a cardiologist even notices latency.
- • Collaborate daily with product, security, and data-engineering squads in a fully remote, async-first culture. You will demo new capabilities in weekly “Founda Friday” sessions, write architecture decision records (ADRs) in Notion, and pair-program across time zones using Tuple or VS Code Live Share.
- • Pioneer edge-computing strategies that bring imaging workloads closer to hospitals. You will evaluate AWS Wavelength, GCP Anthos, and on-prem K8s distributions so that a 400 MB MRI scan uploads in seconds, not minutes, while still honoring data-residency regulations.
- • Contribute to open-source projects that the healthcare-dev community depends on. Whether you are upstreaming a fix to the HL7 FHIR server or releasing a Terraform module for HIPAA-compliant VPCs, your work will be visible and celebrated.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years hands-on experience designing and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP, including VPCs, IAM, KMS, EKS/GKE, RDS/Cloud SQL, and serverless services.
- • Expert-level proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation; you can refactor a 50-module codebase without causing downtime.
- • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals (CNI, CSI, admission webhooks) and experience maintaining multi-tenant clusters with GitOps workflows (Argo CD or Flux).
- • Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash for automation, plus familiarity with CI/CD platforms like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- • Nice-to-have: prior work in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC-2, ISO-27001) and experience with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, DICOM).
