Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join the Global FinOps Centre of Excellence at MSD (Merck & Co., Inc.) as a Cloud Financial Analyst Intern and become the bridge between cutting-edge cloud technology and disciplined financial stewardship. In this high-impact role you will sit side-by-side with senior FinOps practitioners, cloud architects, and business stakeholders across Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe to ensure every dollar spent on AWS and Azure is visible, accountable, and optimized.
- • Own the end-to-end delivery of cloud cost insights: extract multi-million-dollar data sets from AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and SAP BRIM-CFM; cleanse and model the information in SQL and Python; and surface actionable recommendations through interactive Power BI dashboards that are reviewed by VP-level leadership each month.
- • Design and maintain self-service Power BI reports that slice cloud spend by business unit, product line, environment, and tagging taxonomy, enabling engineering teams to see the financial impact of every deployment within 24 hours of code release.
- • Partner with DevOps squads during sprint planning to translate user stories into cost forecasts, ensuring new features are architected for efficiency before they hit production—directly influencing the P&L of blockbuster pharmaceutical products.
- • Drive the adoption of newly launched FinOps product features—such as automated anomaly detection and commitment-based discount simulators—by creating bite-sized enablement assets, hosting brown-bag sessions, and embedding with scrum teams to guarantee rapid uptake.
- • Provide one-to-one consultation to software engineers and product owners on rightsizing opportunities, reserved-instance strategies, and storage lifecycle policies, turning technical recommendations into measurable savings that are tracked and celebrated in quarterly business reviews.
- • Support rigorous month-end financial close activities: reconcile cloud invoices to internal cost-allocation rules, investigate variances greater than 5 %, and prepare journal-entry back-ups for the Global Accounting team, ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- • Maintain the FinOps knowledge repository in SharePoint and Power Automate, continuously updating runbooks, tagging standards, and savings-playbooks so that best practices are democratized across 5,000+ cloud accounts.
- • Contribute to agile ceremonies—daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives—bringing a data-driven lens to continuous improvement and helping mature the squad’s Definition of Done to include cost guardrails.
- • Present findings to a global audience via crisp PowerPoint decks and live storytelling sessions, translating complex cloud economics into clear narratives that empower executives to make faster, better investment decisions.
- • Immerse yourself in MSD’s culture of continuous learning: receive structured training on AWS Well-Architected Cost Optimization pillars, FinOps Foundation frameworks, and advanced data-visualization techniques while earning badges and certificates that will turbo-charge your career.
- • Leave a legacy—by the end of your six-month internship you will have automated at least one manual reporting process, influenced six-figure savings, and built a reusable dashboard template that will be scaled to every MSD business region.
