đź“‹ Description

  • • Alight, Inc. is seeking talented and driven engineers to join our team in designing, building, and operating secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud platforms primarily on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is perfectly suited for individuals who possess a strong aptitude for learning new technologies and are fascinated by the potential of technology to solve complex problems. You will have the opportunity to engage in both hands-on development and contribute significantly to the technical direction of our cloud infrastructure through thoughtful design and a strong sense of ownership.
  • • As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our cloud environment. Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of cloud-native solutions, from initial design and implementation to ongoing operation and iterative improvement. This includes developing and maintaining robust infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration as code (CaC) using industry-leading tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and auditability of our infrastructure.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves owning production systems end-to-end. This means not only implementing new features and infrastructure but also taking responsibility for their operational reliability, performance, and continuous enhancement. You will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins, enabling rapid and reliable application and infrastructure deployments.
  • • You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, maintainable code in modern programming languages, with a strong preference for Python, and authoring reliable Bash or PowerShell scripts to automate various operational tasks. The role encourages the use of AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, and offers the chance to contribute to internal platforms that empower other teams to build and deploy AI-enabled solutions leveraging services like AWS Bedrock and WatsonX.
  • • Ensuring the reliability, scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency of our systems will be paramount. This involves implementing comprehensive observability, monitoring, and alerting strategies. Furthermore, you will embed security best practices into our infrastructure and delivery workflows, adhering to DevSecOps principles such as least-privilege access, secure defaults, and automated policy enforcement.
  • • Collaboration is central to success in this role. You will work closely with application, platform, network, and security teams, fostering strong working relationships and clearly communicating technical requirements, design trade-offs, and decisions. Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for all implemented solutions and proactively exploring and applying emerging technologies in the cloud, DevOps, and AI domains will be essential for continuous innovation and improvement.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies in a collaborative environment that highly values ownership, continuous learning, and technical excellence. Successful candidates will be assessed during the hiring process and may be placed into either a Cloud Engineering or DevOps Engineering role, depending on their specific skills, experience, and career interests. The role requires US Citizenship due to supporting services for the federal government or federal government contractors.
  • • You will be empowered to drive innovation by leveraging AI-assisted tooling and contributing to platforms that integrate AI capabilities. This includes understanding foundational AI concepts like Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic patterns, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and applying them to enhance automation, developer tooling, and operational workflows. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our cloud operations and development processes, making this a highly rewarding and impactful position within a growing global organization.
  • • The company culture at Alight emphasizes championing people, growing with purpose, and embodying the spirit of being 'Alight' through integrity and empowerment. This role provides a platform to live these values by contributing to a secure, efficient, and innovative cloud infrastructure that supports the company's mission of helping clients gain a benefits advantage and build a healthy, financially secure workforce.
