Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • You will serve as the Co-Founding CEO of a high-potential, pre-clinical biotech company that is redefining how metabolic inflammation is treated. Your mandate is to transform world-class science into a commercially viable, investor-ready enterprise capable of delivering disease-modifying therapies to millions of patients with diabetic kidney disease and related disorders.
- • You will own the end-to-end strategic roadmap—from indication prioritization and regulatory path design to capital formation and exit planning. You will translate Professor Anne Marie Schmidt’s groundbreaking RAGE biology into a compelling clinical and commercial narrative that attracts top-tier investors, strategic partners, and talent.
- • You will lead IND-enabling activities for the lead asset, INT-101, orchestrating CMC, toxicology, and regulatory workstreams while simultaneously mapping expansion indications where the RAGE–DIAPH1 platform can create outsized value. Your decisions will determine which patient populations are reached first and how quickly the pipeline scales.
- • You will architect and execute a fundraising strategy that moves the company from equity-only compensation today to a fully financed clinical-stage organization. You will pitch seed, Series A, and non-dilutive capital sources, negotiate term sheets, and maintain a rolling 18-month cash runway.
- • You will assemble and inspire a lean, world-class team—starting with a CSO, CMC head, and clinical advisor network—then scale to 10-15 FTEs by first-in-human dosing. You will foster a culture of scientific rigor, urgency, and shared ownership that thrives in a remote-first environment.
- • You will serve as the public face of the company, presenting at JP Morgan, BIO, and key nephrology congresses; forging partnerships with big-pharma BD groups; and cultivating KOLs who will champion the science and guide future trials.
- • You will design and oversee a robust IP strategy, leveraging the existing five granted U.S. patents to secure freedom-to-operate, file continuations, and expand global coverage in advance of partnering discussions.
- • You will implement rigorous governance and risk management, establishing a board of directors, scientific advisory board, and clinical advisory board that provide strategic oversight while empowering rapid decision-making.
- • You will ensure transparent, compliant operations—instilling GxP quality systems, budgeting discipline, and ESG principles that position the company for long-term value creation and eventual acquisition or IPO.
- • You will measure success by clear milestones: IND submission within 24 months, ≥ $20 M Series A close within 12 months, and strategic partnership or Series B discussions initiated by month 30.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven track record as a founder, CEO, or senior executive who has taken at least one therapeutic asset from pre-IND to Phase I/II or orchestrated a successful Series A/B raise in biotech
- • Deep understanding of small-molecule drug development, including CMC, IND-enabling tox, and early-phase clinical strategy; familiarity with diabetic kidney disease or metabolic inflammation indications is a strong plus
- • Demonstrated ability to raise ≥ $10 M in venture or strategic capital and to build cap tables that align founders, investors, and employees
- • Exceptional communication skills—equally comfortable presenting to scientific KOLs, venture partners, and patient advocacy groups; native or fluent English required
- • Comfort with remote leadership across time zones, utilizing digital collaboration tools to maintain culture and accountability
🏖️ Benefits
- • Founding equity stake with favorable vesting terms, transitioning to competitive salary plus equity post-Series A
- • Remote-first flexibility—work from anywhere while accessing quarterly in-person strategy retreats in global biotech hubs
- • Direct access to world-renowned scientific founder and NYU network, including priority review of follow-on programs and translational resources
- • Opportunity to shape a first-in-class therapeutic platform with potential to reverse—not just slow—organ damage in millions of patients worldwide
