- • The Coder, Hospital Inpatient role at SSM Health Care Corporation is a critical position responsible for ensuring accurate medical coding and abstraction of inpatient records, directly supporting compliance, reimbursement, and quality reporting—making it essential to the financial and operational integrity of the healthcare system.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include assigning diagnostic and procedure codes per ICD-10-PCS and CM guidelines, coordinating with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams to validate MS-DRGs and patient safety indicators, generating coding queries for clarification, monitoring work queues for timely completion, and staying current with coding updates and regulatory changes.

🎯 Requirements
- • Two years of experience in inpatient facility coding
- • Experience with ICD-10-PCS and ICD-10-CM coding
- • Preferred: Experience with Trauma level 1 or 2 inpatient coding
- • Preferred: Experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
- • Preferred: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification
- • Required: One of the following certifications—CCS (AHIMA), CIC (AAPC), CPC® (AAPC), RHIA (AHIMA), or RHIT (AHIMA)
