- • Reviews medical record documentation to determine appropriate billing codes and necessary documentation for the Department of Medicine - Business Office at Washington University in St. Louis.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing patient records to identify pertinent facts for diagnosis and procedure coding, assigning CPT and ICD-9 codes, meeting with physicians to resolve documentation issues, assisting coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation, and preparing case reports for billing follow-up.
- • The role is part of a remote team within the university’s medical billing and coding operations, supporting accurate reimbursement and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- • The position offers opportunities to deepen expertise in medical coding systems, collaborate with clinical staff, and contribute to revenue integrity in a leading academic medical institution.
🎯 Requirements
- • Must hold one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or a department-specific specialty credential).
- • Previous coding experience or equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems is preferred.
