Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the full-cycle coding process for OB/GYN encounters from a 100 % remote workstation, translating complex obstetric and gynecologic documentation into accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes that directly affect reimbursement for one of the region’s largest academic health systems.
  • • Review operative reports, antepartum records, delivery notes, hysteroscopy, colposcopy, and global OB packages, ensuring every procedure, diagnosis, and modifier is captured in strict accordance with CMS, AMA, ACOG, and payer-specific guidelines.
  • • Achieve and sustain productivity benchmarks of 35–45 encounters per day while maintaining ≥ 95 % coding accuracy; monitor your individual quality dashboard in Epic and 3M 360 Encompass and proactively self-audit before external reviews occur.
  • • Identify and resolve NCCI, MUE, LCD, and NCD edits in real time, reducing claim denials and shortening A/R days for high-value OB/GYN services such as maternal-fetal medicine, urogynecology, and minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery.
  • • Partner with 40+ board-certified OB/GYN physicians, advanced practice providers, and revenue-cycle teammates to clarify documentation gaps, deliver concise education on ICD-10-CM obstetric chapter guidelines, and implement feedback loops that improve clinical specificity and reduce repetitive queries.
  • • Serve as the subject-matter expert for OB/GYN coding trends—track quarterly denial analytics, present findings to the Coding Compliance Committee, and recommend workflow or training interventions that protect millions in annual net revenue.
  • • Participate in quarterly chart audits focused on high-risk areas including global obstetric care, cervical cerclage, and pelvic reconstruction; document findings in Workday Learning and collaborate with Physician Champions to create corrective action plans.
  • • Support Epic upgrades, CPT/HCPCS annual updates, and payer policy changes by attending virtual training sessions, pilot testing new encoder tools, and disseminating quick-reference guides to the distributed coding team.
  • • Handle ad-hoc projects such as Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) capture for obstetric comorbidities, DRG validation for inpatient deliveries, and pre-bill reviews for bundled payment initiatives, ensuring UofL Health remains audit-ready at all times.
  • • Communicate professionally and promptly with multidisciplinary stakeholders via Microsoft Teams, secure email, and virtual huddles, fostering a culture of transparency and continuous improvement across the revenue cycle.
  • • Uphold HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational privacy policies while working from a secure, distraction-free home office equipped with high-speed internet and privacy safeguards.
  • • Contribute to the UofL Health mission of transforming community health by ensuring every coded encounter accurately reflects the exceptional, patient-centered care delivered by our academic physicians and advanced practitioners.
