- • As a Collections & Recoveries Manager at Allica Bank, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s financial health by managing distressed lending portfolios across Commercial Mortgages, Asset Finance, and Growth Finance, ensuring customers in financial difficulty are supported through fair, compliant, and effective recovery strategies while protecting the bank’s exposure and upholding its commitment to treating customers fairly.
- • Day to day, you will manage a portfolio of accounts showing signs of deteriorating credit quality by implementing tailored repayment or recovery strategies on both an individual and portfolio basis; conduct site visits to customers in arrears to assess their situation and develop appropriate workout plans; terminate finance agreements where necessary and collaborate with the Asset Manager to recover and sell assets to maximise proceeds; maintain and update the Watchlist and support monthly reporting to the Credit Risk meeting; liaise with insolvency practitioners, collection agents, and solicitors as required to coordinate recovery actions; ensure accurate categorisation of portfolio delinquency ageing for IFRS 9 reporting; monitor and respond to regulatory or legislative changes affecting lending, developing contingency plans and strategic responses; oversee that fees, recovery income, and expenses align with budget; continuously evaluate market conditions to identify and react to emerging portfolio risks; and act as a change management supporter by improving processes and procedures through collaboration with the business line mission squad.
- • You will be part of the Lending department at Allica Bank, a fast-growing UK fintech dedicated to serving established SMEs — the backbone of the British economy — by combining modern technology, local relationships, and tailored expertise to deliver expert banking for business Britain; the team operates with a mission-driven, collaborative culture focused on innovation, fairness, and long-term customer success in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distressed asset management, regulatory compliance (including IFRS 9 and Treating Customers Fairly), and cross-functional recovery operations, while developing leadership and strategic thinking skills through influencing process improvements, managing complex cases, and contributing to the bank’s risk resilience and growth objectives in the SME lending space.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Collections department specialising in Commercial Mortgages (CM) or Asset Finance (AF), or both, with direct exposure to SME lending portfolios.
- • Proven track record of successfully managing a portfolio of distressed assets to maximise customer collections and recovery outcomes.
- • Expert knowledge of CM and AF lending products, including the legal and contractual rights of the bank and customer, and the options available to enforce security upon default.
- • Solid understanding of the current regulatory environment, particularly Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and handling vulnerable customers, with experience applying these principles in collections and recoveries.
- • Working knowledge of IFRS 9 impairment concepts, including PD, LGD, and EAD, and experience supporting accurate delinquency ageing and reporting.
- • Ability to anticipate and respond to regulatory or legislative changes, developing contingency plans and strategic responses to protect the bank’s portfolio.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Full onboarding support and continued development opportunities to grow your career within a fast-scaling fintech.
- • Options for flexible and hybrid working, allowing you to tailor your work arrangement to your needs.
- • Regular social activities that foster connection and inclusion across teams.
- • Pension contributions and a discretionary bonus scheme to reward performance and support long-term financial wellbeing.
- • Private health cover and life assurance providing comprehensive protection for you and your family.
- • Family friendly policies, including enhanced maternity and paternity leave, to support work-life balance.
