📋 Description

• As a Commercial Counsel at Fivetran, you will play a critical role in enabling the company’s mission to make data access as simple and reliable as electricity by supporting the sales organization in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer-facing commercial agreements that drive revenue and scale operations.
• You will serve as a trusted legal partner to cross-functional teams including Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, Security, and RevOps, ensuring efficient deal execution while managing legal and business risk in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.

• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating MSAs, order forms, DPAs, BAAs, and related amendments; advising on data protection, privacy, security, IP, liability, and compliance issues in a B2B SaaS context; providing practical, business-focused legal guidance to help close deals while maintaining scalable contracting processes; contributing to the development and improvement of contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines; and supporting cross-functional initiatives related to product launches, pricing, go-to-market motions, and customer lifecycle matters.
• You will work closely with Sales, Deal Desk, Finance, Security, and RevOps teams to balance legal risk with business objectives, ensuring contracts are both legally sound and commercially viable, while leveraging tools like Ironclad and SFDC to streamline workflows.
• The legal team at Fivetran is collaborative and strategic, partnering deeply with business units to enable growth without compromising compliance or integrity, and you will have the opportunity to influence contracting standards across a rapidly scaling global organization.
• In this role, you will develop deep expertise in SaaS and technology contracting, sharpen your ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice, and gain exposure to high-stakes negotiations with leading global enterprises—positioning you for continued growth as a strategic legal advisor in the tech industry.
• You will also contribute to building scalable legal processes that support Fivetran’s hypergrowth, gaining experience in legal operations, contract lifecycle management, and cross-functional alignment that are highly transferable across the legal and tech landscapes.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience negotiating and drafting sales agreements, including in-house experience at a SaaS or technology company and/or law firm.
• Strong experience negotiating SaaS, cloud, or technology agreements supporting direct sales teams.
• Working knowledge of data privacy, security, and technology contracting issues in a B2B SaaS context.
• Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Strong communication skills and comfort advising non-legal stakeholders.
• Highly organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• High attention to detail, with demonstrated self-initiative that drives a desire for impact and achievement.
• Admitted to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
