  • • This Senior Account Manager role focuses on managing a commercial insurance book of business in the transportation sector (middle market), ensuring account retention, driving new business opportunities, and serving as a subject matter expert for the account management team. The position is critical to maintaining client relationships and delivering expert service in a specialized industry vertical.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining technical competence in commercial lines insurance, directing daily workflow and activities of the account management team, handling customer service requests related to policy administration, billing, claims, and coverage analysis, managing policy expirations and renewals through client research, submission preparation, coverage negotiation, and proposal presentation, monitoring accounts receivable by tracking delinquent accounts and collecting outstanding balances, maintaining agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms for data accuracy, monitoring activity/suspense to ensure timely task completion, maintaining frequent and transparent communication with the account team regarding workload and issues, delivering proactive service excellence by anticipating client needs, ensuring policy compliance with company procedures, seeking continuous improvement through best practices, and championing IOA’s core values of integrity and leadership.
  • • The role supports the Chicago, IL region (Elgin, IL office) but is fully remote for applicants in Eastern, Central, and Mountain Time Zones, with the expectation of a dedicated workspace and adherence to core office hours.   • • In this role, the individual can develop deep expertise in transportation industry risk management, enhance leadership and mentoring capabilities by guiding a team, strengthen advanced analytical and negotiation skills through complex renewal cycles, and position themselves for career progression into senior leadership or specialized brokerage roles within a national insurance brokerage firm.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 7+ years of account management experience or 10+ years in the insurance industry
  • • Active property & casualty insurance license; professional designation (CIS, TRIP, or equivalent) preferred
  • • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional customer service, communication, multitasking, and organizational abilities
  • • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to work Central Time Zone office hours
  • • High school diploma or equivalent
