- • Lead mechanical commissioning for high-performance data centers across Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning phases, focusing on flushing, cooling, heat rejection, and liquid cooling systems.
- • Drive the end-to-end Testing & Verification program for mechanical cooling, heat rejection, and data hall thermal systems, coordinating with commissioning agents and engineers from pre-site testing through on-site functional testing.
- • Own and maintain rigorous commissioning documentation across multiple projects and sites, including issue logs, test results, and final reports, ensuring all records are audit-ready for owners or insurers.
- • Conduct on-site commissioning operations across general contractors, designers, and vendors, performing inspections, enforcing safety protocols, tracking progress, and resolving technical issues in real time.
- • Close out final operational handover for all mechanical systems, verifying that every component is fully functional, calibrated, and ready for service prior to facility occupancy.
- • Commission firsthand critical mechanical equipment including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, CDUs, direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems, pumps, and hydronic piping.
- • Execute hydronic flushing, cleaning, and pressure/hydrostatic testing on process piping systems in compliance with AABC/NEBB TAB standards, identifying and preventing non-compliant test results before sign-off.
- • Participate in design and constructability reviews with a commissioning and operations lens, proactively identifying potential issues before they are embedded in construction.
- • Automate Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning processes to improve efficiency and reliability across a portfolio of modular data centers totaling 50GW+ of capacity this decade.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with broader data center infrastructure.
- • Maintain strict adherence to velocity and first-principles operating principles, challenging assumptions and driving solutions with extreme ownership and autonomy.
- • Support the scaling of commissioning programs across multiple concurrent project sites, ensuring consistent quality and documentation standards.
- • Ensure all commissioning activities align with FluidStack’s mission to deploy frontier compute infrastructure at unprecedented speed and scale to enable AI advancement.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on commissioning experience in data center mechanical systems
- • Direct experience commissioning chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, CDUs, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, pumps, and hydronic piping
- • Proven expertise in hydronic flushing, pressure/hydrostatic testing, and adherence to AABC/NEBB TAB standards
- • Experience building and executing end-to-end Testing & Verification programs from pre-site through on-site startup and troubleshooting
- • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- • Rigorous documentation practices with records capable of withstanding owner or insurer audits
