Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Fluidstack is at the forefront of building the essential infrastructure for abundant intelligence, a mission that requires not only cutting-edge technology but also strong, trusting relationships with the communities where we operate. As we rapidly expand our global GPU cluster footprint across the United States, Europe, and beyond, we are establishing new datacenters that will become integral parts of these communities for decades to come. Building and maintaining these relationships is paramount, and it's a trust that must be earned through consistent, transparent, and proactive engagement.
- • The Community Engagement Lead will serve as the primary ambassador and point of contact for Fluidstack within these local communities. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between our advanced infrastructure projects and the diverse groups they impact, including local residents, government officials, civic institutions, and other key stakeholders. Your mission will be to cultivate trust long before any construction begins, sustain that trust throughout the development and operational phases, and ultimately transform neighbors, local leaders, and regional influencers into dedicated advocates for Fluidstack's presence and mission.
- • This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a critical function from the ground up. You will operate at the nexus of public affairs, economic development, and strategic communications, with the autonomy to define our approach and processes. Your work will directly influence the success and timeline of our projects, playing a material role in navigating complex local dynamics and ensuring that projects move forward smoothly rather than encountering delays in council chambers or community opposition.
- • You will be instrumental in developing and institutionalizing Fluidstack's community engagement playbook. This involves creating comprehensive strategies for stakeholder mapping, defining effective outreach cadences, establishing clear issue escalation protocols, and designing robust community benefit frameworks. These frameworks must be adaptable and scalable to accommodate diverse geographies and varying jurisdictional requirements, ensuring a consistent yet localized approach.
- • A core responsibility will be to act as the visible face of Fluidstack in local communities. This will entail actively participating in and representing Fluidstack at a variety of public forums, including town hall meetings, public hearings, planning commission sessions, and local community events. You will also represent Fluidstack's interests and perspectives in broader external policy and political discussions at regional and state levels.
- • Building and nurturing a wide-ranging network of relationships is crucial. You will engage with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including elected officials at all levels, city and county staff, vital utility partners, school districts, workforce development organizations, local non-profits, influential trade associations, and the community members themselves. These relationships form the bedrock of our social license to operate.
- • You will maintain a keen awareness of the evolving state and local legislative landscapes, regulatory developments, and policy trends that could impact our operations. This involves aligning external policy shifts with Fluidstack's internal business objectives and proactively developing strategies to shape favorable outcomes. A key aspect of this is regularly briefing senior leadership on potential political and policy risks, enabling informed decision-making.
- • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential opposition is essential. You will work collaboratively with our Site Selection, Real Estate, and Legal teams to anticipate and address reputational, regulatory, and political risks before significant capital is committed to a project. This foresight is critical for de-escalating potential conflicts and ensuring project viability.
- • You will coordinate the implementation and communication of community benefit commitments. This includes local hiring initiatives, workforce development programs, educational partnerships, and grant allocations. Developing clear, compelling communications materials that translate complex technical and infrastructure realities into easily understandable narratives for diverse audiences – from community members to government officials and executive leadership – will be a key deliverable. You will also manage relationships with external partners such as lobbyists, consultants, and PR agencies, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.
- • This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of public affairs, and the ability to navigate complex political and social environments. You will be a key driver in ensuring Fluidstack's long-term success by fostering positive and enduring community relationships.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in community engagement, public affairs, or government relations, with a strong track record of building trust and managing stakeholder relationships.
- • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic engagement plans, including stakeholder mapping, communication strategies, and crisis management.
- • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- • Experience working with local government officials, civic leaders, and community organizations.
- • Ability to travel as needed to project sites and engage in face-to-face meetings.
- • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $115,000 - $200,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
- • Equity in the form of stock options, providing an opportunity to share in the company's growth.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- • Generous paid time off and holidays.
- • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a rapidly growing company.
