Computer Operator (Mainframe & Distributed System Operations)

📋 Description

• • Execute and monitor batch cycles including daily, weekly, month-end, and year-end workloads across mainframe and distributed systems.
• • Perform job submission, hold/release, reruns, restarts, and force-complete activities for batch jobs in both mainframe and distributed environments.
• • Troubleshoot and recover abended jobs to minimize business impact and maintain service level agreements.
• • Analyze and manage upstream and downstream job dependencies to ensure batch cycle integrity and successful execution.
• • Operate and monitor batch job execution using AutoSys for distributed systems, including managing alarms, calendars, and job dependencies.
• • Utilize Jobtrac for mainframe job flows, including scheduling rules, reruns, restarts, and abend resolution.
• • Apply mainframe knowledge including z/OS, JCL, and SDSF to monitor, troubleshoot, and support batch operations.
• • Perform UNIX/Linux command-line operations such as ls, grep, ps, chmod, and vi for system monitoring and job control.
• • Execute and manage Windows batch job workflows using Task Scheduler and basic scripting techniques.
• • Follow operational procedures in a 24×7 environment, including incident handling, escalation protocols, and change management processes.
• • Adhere strictly to ITIL-aligned processes for Incident and Change Management to maintain operational compliance.
• • Maintain detailed documentation of job execution, incidents, and resolutions to support audit and continuous improvement initiatives.
• • Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly to internal teams and US-based clients in fluent English, both verbally and in writing.
• • Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence when managing high-pressure, fast-paced operational transitions.
• • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet strict deadlines and ensure timely completion of critical batch cycles.
• • Maintain a process-oriented mindset with strict adherence to operational procedures and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• • Work across both first and second shifts in a hybrid-friendly environment to ensure continuous system operations.
• • Collaborate with a global team of technical professionals on mission-critical systems serving clients in banking, retail, and other key industries.
• • Participate in hands-on learning and certification programs on major cloud platforms including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.
• • Contribute to customer success by delivering reliable, high-quality system operations aligned with client requirements.
