đź“‹ Description

  • • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Confluent Kafka Developer to join our dynamic team, contributing to a cutting-edge project for one of Weekday's esteemed clients. This is a full-time, remote position based in India, requiring a minimum of 7 years of professional experience. As a hands-on developer, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end lifecycle of Kafka-based solutions, from initial design and development through to deployment and ongoing optimization. Your expertise will be crucial in building robust, scalable, and secure real-time data streaming applications that form the backbone of our client's data infrastructure.
  • • In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing sophisticated streaming applications utilizing the Confluent Kafka platform. This involves not just writing code, but deeply understanding the nuances of event-driven architectures and how to leverage Kafka to its fullest potential. You will be tasked with developing custom adaptors and connectors that seamlessly integrate with existing systems and cater to specific business needs, ensuring data flows efficiently and accurately across disparate applications. A significant part of your work will involve developing and maintaining KSQL scripts and Kafka Streams (KStream) applications, enabling complex real-time data processing and analytics directly within the streaming pipeline. Your contributions will directly empower our client to make faster, data-driven decisions.
  • • Performance optimization is a key facet of this role. You will proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks within the streaming pipelines, ensuring that applications running on the Confluent cluster nodes are highly scalable and reliably perform under heavy loads. This includes conducting in-depth performance tuning and fine-tuning of custom adaptors and connectors, as well as optimizing the overall Kafka cluster configuration for maximum throughput and minimal latency. Your ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues will be critical to maintaining the integrity and responsiveness of the real-time data streams.
  • • Security is paramount in our data solutions. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing application-level security models, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Access Control Lists (ACLs), to ensure that data is accessed only by authorized personnel and applications. Furthermore, you will configure and manage encryption mechanisms to protect data in transit and at rest, and implement secure communication protocols such as SSL/mTLS to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality. Adherence to enterprise security standards and best practices will be a non-negotiable aspect of your work, ensuring our client's sensitive data remains protected.
  • • You will also play a vital role in the deployment and environment management of Kafka components. This involves developing and maintaining robust deployment scripts for various Kafka artifacts, including Topics, Connectors, Streams, Adaptors, and KSQL components. You will manage the seamless promotion of these changes across different environments, from development and staging to production, ensuring consistency and minimizing deployment risks. Your efforts will guarantee that deployment processes are aligned with organizational release schedules and adhere to strict change management protocols.
  • • Beyond development and deployment, you will be a key player in the troubleshooting and support of our Kafka-based systems. This includes proactive monitoring of system health, identifying potential issues before they impact operations, and performing thorough troubleshooting and defect resolution. You will engage in hands-on debugging of complex problems within distributed environments, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability and reliability of the Kafka infrastructure. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining optimal system performance and availability.
  • • Finally, you will provide critical support during testing phases and go-live events. This includes actively supporting Unit Testing (UT), System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the quality and functionality of the developed solutions. You will also assist during staging and production go-live events, providing on-the-ground support to ensure smooth rollouts and conducting post-deployment validation to confirm successful implementation and operational readiness. Your involvement will be crucial in guaranteeing the successful adoption and ongoing success of the Kafka solutions.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development, with a significant focus on Apache Kafka and the Confluent Platform.
  • • Proven hands-on expertise in designing, developing, and deploying real-time data streaming applications using Confluent Kafka.
  • • Strong proficiency in KSQL scripting and Kafka Streams (KStream) for complex event processing and data transformation.
  • • In-depth knowledge of Kafka security models, including RBAC, ACLs, and experience implementing encryption mechanisms and secure communication protocols like SSL/mTLS.
  • • Demonstrated experience in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of Kafka-based systems and custom connectors in production environments.
  • • Experience supporting testing phases (UT, SIT, UAT) and assisting with production deployments and go-live activities.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote work arrangement, offering flexibility and work-life balance.
  • • Opportunity to work with a leading client on impactful, cutting-edge technology projects.
  • • Competitive salary and compensation package.
  • • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
  • • Collaborative and supportive team environment.
