  • • Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for Low Voltage Contractors (LVCs) and internal engineering teams during data center physical infrastructure deployments.
  • • Manage LVC deployment schedules, ensuring adherence to project milestones, reporting progress and delays to project management, and coordinating access, material delivery, and staging areas with facility operations.
  • • Perform comprehensive multi-stage Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) inspections on all physical infrastructure installations, including rack placement, server/device racking, cable routing, and labeling.
  • • Validate fiber optic installations by conducting or directly overseeing optical loss testing (OLTS), OTDR analysis, and insertion/return loss evaluations on both Single-Mode and Multi-Mode fiber links.
  • • Verify copper cable integrity (Cat6a/Cat8) using certified testers to confirm proper pin-out, termination, and signal performance.
  • • Ensure all infrastructure components—including racks, servers, network devices, and storage units—are installed, grounded, and labeled in strict compliance with Bill of Materials (BoM) and design documentation.
  • • Review, interpret, and validate technical design documents such as rack elevation diagrams, fiber schematics, and AutoCAD/Visio drawings for constructability and code compliance.
  • • Act as the organization’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) for fiber optic systems and structured cabling, applying industry best practices including BICSI standards.
  • • Generate detailed final test reports, as-built documentation, and root cause analysis (RCA) reports for all deployment activities and encountered issues.
  • • Educate and coach internal full-time employees on fiber maintenance, cable management, and physical infrastructure best practices.
  • • Manage vendor/partner relationships, contracts, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to installation quality and performance.
  • • Oversee closeout activities and formally hand off completed infrastructure to the operations team.
  • • Function as a remote hands expert for remote engineering teams during deployment, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • • Travel up to 40% of the time for extended on-site deployments during data center turn-ups; must be willing to relocate temporarily to wherever work is required.
  • • Maintain strict adherence to safety codes, labeling policies, and industry standards throughout all phases of physical infrastructure projects.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data center or mission-critical infrastructure deployment
  • • Deep technical expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in fiber optic systems, including design standards, installation techniques, and advanced testing methodologies (OTDR, VFL, Power Meter)
  • • Proven experience in physical infrastructure installation, including racking, stacking, and cabling of servers, network, and storage hardware
  • • Ability to read, interpret, and translate technical drawings and schematics (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio)
  • • Comfortable with up to 40% travel for extended on-site deployments; must be willing to be wherever the work is
